Oh. Shit. I was assuming this was a thread about Mary Matalin.
Never mind. Carry on.
I thought maybe we were going to have a poll for the worst political bitch.

And I thought it was gonna be a thread about kittinSol...[;)]

"These are the sheeple that are the biggest problem"

Speak for yourself and your party.

The republicans made this mess.

The dems are going to fix it and aren`t going to be "sheepish" about it,even if it means losing some members.

Selling out principle (to get elected) is a con thing anyway.

And Merc is full of it.Everyone I know that voted for Nader feels they helped little george get elected.Independents are only spoilers.

Ask any hardcore con and they`ll swear that Perot helped Clinton get elected. They know 3rds are spoilers and that`s why they overtly and covertly supported Nader with money and adverts and lawyers.

It`s interesting that the only folks to vote against getting the bonus money back from AIG were republicans.......well,not interesting but rather pretty typical.

You provide me with a good example. In case you have missed it before, I will type it slow so you can read it slow

I.....do.....not.....belong.....to.....a.....party.

No they will patch it, because the problems are not with the economy, banks or anything else, the problems are with the politicians. Again you provide me with a great example.

Another great example. You and I both know I could plaster pages of Dems throughout the country, that have sold out in some shape or form.

Actually you need to educate yourself, Independents are the swing votes that determine elections. If many of the unaffiliated voters banded together, they would have just as much if not more voting power than any of the two current parties. But I do take note of your cheerleading.

I try not to involve myself with hard core Cons or Libs, because they are cheerleading sheeple. I would rather talk to those that can have rational discussions, see differences, and work towards solutions because of those differences.

Rah....Rah...Rah....Bah...Bah...Bah....

Your post is a good example of those that care less for fixing the politicians, and care more to just cheerlead and for your side to win. Got news for you, we are all on the same side. Stop your cheerleading and hold all of the politicians accountable, not just the "Cons".

kittinSol -> RE: Political Bitch Thread! (3/20/2009 6:15:42 AM)

Blaming the policians is just another way to shift the responsibility, Orion. If blame is the game, we need to blame big business, the IMF, military funding, private health insurance, corporations, and finally, the people who accepted the lies they were fed for decades and decades.

MissJanice2 -> RE: Political Bitch Thread! (3/20/2009 6:41:08 AM)

I would add something to these great comments, but why mess them up.  You all are doing great. Let them rip.
FYI:  I don't think we can register in this state as Independents.  Independents are on the ballots.   I will check into it. You all have a great day.

I disagree with the politicians bearing the brunt of the mess we are in today.  Greed, lack of personal responsibility, and accountability are key players, and sadly that is across the board. Politicians, bankers, stock market brokers, even the regular guy hoping to make it rich in the stock market lottery.  There are very few people who have NO responsibility for the mess we are in.  Now we have to suck it up and do our best.

That irritates the bejeezus out of me every time I hear it, and since this is a bitch thread, I'll bitch.

How can anyone who votes their conscience be a "spoiler"?  Isn't that what we're all supposed to do - vote for the person who we feel will do the best job?  There are plenty of people who don't feel that either party really represents their views.  There are plenty who are pretty fed up with both parties.  The real left hasn't had a home in the Democratic party for a long time now, and there are a heck of a lot of Republicans who feel that their party's tent has been shrinking and no longer includes them.  There are more folks who identify themselves as independent/third party than there are who identify themselves as Democrats or as Republicans.  It was interesting to look at the ballots in the MN Senatorial recount and see how many people split their ticket.  There were a LOT of them.

In my opinion, the "spoilers" are the folks who prefer the 3rd party candidate but vote D or R because they've bought into this "You're throwing away your vote!" and "You're actually voting for THEM!" bullshit.  The Democratic and Republican party organizations are short-term thinkers, primarily concerned about what's going to be happening 2 or 4 years down the road and how to turn that to their advantage.  They don't have to worry about the long term, because they're the only game in town and they're pretty good at keeping it that way.

I think that third parties are the only hope we have of getting elected officials who are more focused on governing than on politicking.  If no party has a majority, our elected officials would be forced to get together and actually discuss the bills they'll be voting on.  We might actually hear something about the issues and get more options on the table - there are always more than two sides to these things.  In order to get something passed, a party will have to make their case well enough to get another party or two to go along with it.  They'd probably be forced to do some compromising.  Wouldn't that be something.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Political Bitch Thread! (3/20/2009 6:05:58 PM)

There is enough going around but...... the politicians are supposed to be servants of the people. That is what you hold them responsible for. Each of the others has to be looked at to see where their responsibility is. In the end yes the responsibility lies with us, the American people, and I pointed this out in my original rant. We get the government we deserve.

I think people should remember that the GOP was a little different before it was hi-jacked by the neo-cons and the religious right. Their ideals were not quite as hardcore on some issues, their agenda was broader and they didnt act like they "owned" morality.
I seem to recall that at one point there was nothing and no one more rigid and uptight than a "good ole Southern Democrat" (they claimed to be good, I disagree). The last 8 years its been nothing but the three "Gs", God, Guns and Gays. (Well, and starting wars of course, torture, war profiteering, etc.) :)

Wonderful response.  Just letting you know I have talked to most everyone in my republican based state.   I got all the way to Governor Mark Sanford's private mail clerk.  This is true.  LOL I hate them all.  It is time for us to take our country back because they obviously cannot do it.

Best Wishes,

I wasn't going to comment here but your feelings are getting to be very common out there among us in the great unwashed. I guess it's an oxymoron than political parties are populated with POLITICIANS!  The particular breed of homo sapien comes to the party with an "agenda" and not a plan...they do thhisings under the guise of working for the "American people"....and just enrich themselves and their friends.
Like you, I have been a lifelong member of one party..the one on the other side of the aisle.  I stopped donating to the RNC at least 3-4 years ago when they were at their height of raping the public treasury.  This feasting on the productive energy of hard working people continues today democrat leadership....and we may still be on our way into a depression with this dysfunctional Congress...dysfunctional in the sense of not being productive for America....because they sure know how to take care of themselves.....along with an Administration that promised "change" and, insteadk, may be giving us "revolution".
Looking at the glass being half-filled, I would hope that our country does what it always does in times of "crisis"...find true leaders emerging from the shadows.

It doesn't make one feel better just to bitch..and it certainly gets the moderators panties twisted.  However, this is a time for us to ALL bitch to our representatives in Washington...Before we are democrats or republicans or libertarians...we are Americans...and have a right to petition our government...it's in the constitution.  We should all be lobbiests for ourselves.
Best Wishes,

Keep in mind that this was established to occur in the past, Republican administration. At least our current President is trying HARD to get it under control! Give him a chance?

was Bush not trying hard to get 'it' under control? granted he was doing an awful job (as is our current president)...but I don't see someone trying hard and failing miserably is any reason to give someone a reprieve from criticism or even anger.

MasterShake69 -> RE: Political Bitch Thread! (3/28/2009 1:37:52 AM)

do a little research about Joseph Cassano.  Then ask yourself some questions.  Which party created the events that caused him to get his position of power at AIG?  Why was the founder of the company Mr Greenberg forced out and by who and what political party was he??  Who did Joseph Cassano donate campaign cash too???   Why was it hidden in a stimulus bill that nobody was aloud to read before voting on????  A bill needed to help the economy that Obama took 4 days to get around to sign???  Also who donated campaign cash to both Mr Dodd who put the AIG bonus money in the bill and Mr Obama who signed the bill.  I think there needs to be a criminal investigation of the Democrats.  It seems there was bribery involved ;)  Could it be that the Democrats were bribed and the economy died as the result???

http://www.forbes.com/2008/09/28/croesus-aig-credit-biz-cx_rl_0928croesus.html

By the close of 2007, AIG held $562 billion risky and dangerous unhedged credit default swap (CDS) contracts on its books. That amounted to more than half of all AIG's assets. AIGFP, managed by Joseph Cassano, until he was pushed out in early 2008, was the dangerous operation singled out by The New York Times Sunday as the "small, freewheeling unit" that "brought AIG to its knees."

Croesus was informed Saturday that these complex contracts were hedged until former Chairman Hank Greenberg was ousted from his post in April 2005. Sources close to Greenberg claim AIG held very little subprime paper, if any, before April 2005. But during the last part of 2005 AIG got deeply into subprime mortgages.

AIG's credit default book grew from about $100 billion in 2002 to more than $500 billion in 2007. In 2006, it should be noted, AIG hid the level of CDS contracts in a tiny footnote, but didn't include the figure in its table of derivatives, which was mostly interest rate swaps
