Anybody watched the new show: Legend of the Seeker ?

I was watching this show.. and then this episode came along (episode 8, season 1), and just kinda made my jaw drop at the tone and theme..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2ObbiM7D-0 (Her introduction)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MGE3eNKQN4&feature=related (first torture scene)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7KZjeY3AkI&feature=PlayList&p=85C6BAF733272D64&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=26 (second torture)

Just thought I'd share for those who like this sort of thing :).

I started to watch it when it first came out, seeing as I have read most of Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth Series". But shortly after starting it, I couldn't take anymore. LOL You really, really do need to read the books. The books will blow you away. Once I read the first book, then I was hooked and the television show simply did not cut it. After all, no amount of television can give the appeal of vision that a confessor or mord sith can convey! Between both of those character types, I was definitely hooked@!

I have to admit, after AAkasha started this thread http://www.collarchat.com/m_2398711/tm.htm  I've been checking out the older shows on Hulu   http://www.hulu.com/watch/48323/legend-of-the-seeker-prophecydestiny#x-0,vepisode,1  and yep...I watch it now.
The Terry Goodkind series is on my list of books to read but I'm a bit backed up...too many good books to read and so little time.

Apparently I've been wasting my time on the Discovery and History channel.

"I want you to think of me"...  It actually sent some small chills around..

thanks!

Yeah, Mistress Denna...She's so BAD ^-^

"Sword of Truth" series is great and I'm not sure if movie version can handle it, but these trailers with Denna are incredible >:)

The opening 12 seconds, where she's putting on her boots/doing up her corset-y thingamajig... that's an obvious Xena imitation. Xena could kick Denna's arse any day. ;)

I loved that episode. Denna's too hot for words! I'm disappointed that none of the clips on YouTube showed the scene where she actually captured the Seeker. To me that's possibly the most exciting instant in such a situation, when the woman defeats the man's attacks, and turns the tables on him, and suddenly everyone realizes that he's helpless and in her power.

I read the book years ago.  I wasn't aware of the show until a few months ago.  The Mistress Denna episode doesn't follow the chapters of Wizard's First Rule where Denna makes her first appearance.  But I didn't expect it would.  The chapters concerning Denna and her training of Richard take place over several months.  It would just be impossible to cover that in a one hour show.  I am glad that the show is bringing attention to The Sword of Truth series.  It's well written, and it's a good read.

How such enjoyable books can be turned into such a bad TV series is beyond me.
Mistress Denna excepted of course. *smiles*

Been watching LotS for awhile now.

Yeah the Nasty Blond Bringer of Pain is nice but there are LOTS of overtones of Power based relationships .... As you will find in ANY Midevil Era Story as terms like Lord, Slave, and Power are common among them. What I like about this is they choose costumes that articulate this idea more.

Fun Little Show.

Wow. That was hot. I'm so used to seeing anything with any sort of D/s theme portrayed as schlock porn, I almost didn't bother watching it. But I was really impressed. The thing that made it so hot for me was the genuine tenderness in her character, and the moments of deep emotional intimacy between her and her prisoner. And whoever wrote that seems to have some personal understanding of D/s dynamics - "Soon, your only thought will be, 'how can I please my mistress?' And then everything will be so much easier for you. And i won't have to hurt you anymore." Doesn't seem like the kind of thing a layperson would usually write. I don't know if I'll ever become a fan of the series itself, but I'll definitely be watching for more episodes with her in it. And, checking out the books.

If you think that showed genuine tenderness you really need to read the book, because that was nothing. Of course in the book she was also a lot more brutal. For example...that leather she wears is red, so that it will hide the blood. When her slave is considered to be trained she wears white leather to send the message that he is fully obedient. That part of the book was relatively short, but after you read it a few dozen times it seems like it was a bigger part of the story lol.

The Wizard's First Rule...look for it
