"I can handle and deal with deep levels of honestly and truth, and I'm able to find an amazing level of compassion and understanding.  Deny me the truth and it's hard for this Daddy to give those things."

hard but not impossible, some folks rise to challenges that push them way out of societal comfort zones.

basically what i am saying is, it is thought of a carnial sin to lie to a dominant or a partner or friend, but sometimes the truth is none of our buisness, even if it is our boy or girl sub or slave

if this person is important to you youll figure out a way to get your needs met with out needing them to change

A quote? Whose? And your question is?

Saying one "can handle and deal with deep levels of honesty and truth" is one thing, proving it to another person is a different matter entirely. It's been my experience that many people who say this do not mean it.

Another (more semantic) point: What does "handling" it entail? What are "deep" levels?

It's a personal quote from something I had wrote at one time.

It's an open ended statement that I'm sharing, and for other people to comment upon.  A very simple statement often is all that is required.

Ok are we supposed to applaud? I'm lost here--and the truth according to whom?

An opening quote from the tv series "Lie to Me" says that the average "man" tells a lie every 90 seconds---so could get a little touchy...

And Gregory House says that "Everybody lies."

LOL, finally some blunt ass truth to it all.   Amazing though as much as posted regarding the importance of honesty and trust in a D/s relationship.  Yet, there's this fine line of matters.

To add clarification of CatdeMedici, those ain't the kind of lies in mind with the Opening Post.  If lies were rated on a scale of 1-10.  The 8-10 range would be what I have in mind.  Not the small little petty lies.

Couchingtigress, love your comment about the person being important enough.

For me the lie I hate the most is the, "It is not my fault. . . someone else is to blame."  Whine, whine, whine.

I just posted about that elsewhere.

DesFIP -> RE: Honesty, truth, understanding and compassion. (3/22/2009 5:54:53 PM)

You don't merit deep levels of truth in the beginning. Because that means I have to be deeply vulnerable. And I don't do that to someone who I don't know is worth that, is going to handle it well, won't use my revealed vulnerabilities to attack me. You prove that you're a good guy and you get a little bit, handle that well and you get more the next time.

But part of getting deep truths is that some of them you won't like. So if she says something that hurts your ego or pride, and you act like an asshole, then you won't get that level of truth again because you've proved that your words and actions don't agree.

Be careful of what you ask for.
