I've just gotten through the first page of responses, and have to say that IMO many of the so-called myths aren't myths at all, because they really aren't commonly believed. Only complete idiots would believe some of the stuff written here. I didn't get beyond the first page, because I don't think I can stomach this thread, supposedly about "myths", being turned into merely another venue for dominas to ceaselessly gripe about the attitudes of wankers and do-me subs.

Actually, hardbodysub, these are things both Fox and I have encountered many times that people in and out of the lifestyle BELIEVE to be TRUE about dominant women and their relationships. Wankers and do-me subs contribute to it, yes, but these beliefs are held by new comers, vanilla curious, and a lot of the intolerant. The reason that there are people who are against the lifestyle as a whole is becasue they believe some of these myths and see them as reprehensible and assume they are universal truths. DV

I can agree with you, VampiresLair, on SOME of the things listed, but definitely not on a lot of them. I think that there is a negativity bias at work here, leading to an overestimation of the proportion of people who believe such ridiculous things.

Actually, after reading all the posts, I do not think there are any of them here that have not been real. Granted the newbies who have their heads filled with the porn queen images are the worst offenders, but we get the myths from somewhere.

I do find it a bit amusing that you would use the term "knickers" to be honest. I'm sure you'll find that condescending, too. I'm also sure that it might seem like we complain about this all of the time. Yet, from our perspective, we experience it a lot more than we complain about it. We get it from a lot of different fronts, most of which are more important in our lives than what we run across here on CM. From the outside looking in, it might seem like it's constant. Instead, it's more the case of, at any given time, one or the other of us has had their fill, and just need to vent. Where you saw bitching about the subject, I found some much needed relief in the form of laughter. So, another myth busted. That being the one that Dominant women never need to vent just to feel better.
