Status: offline 		Most states do have laws on place regarding the use of profanity in the presence of a minor, usually 14 yrs of age and under, whether it is your child or not and you are the one using the profanity or not....that being said she did have her 2 yr old son present.

He was an assistant fire marshal, not a cop...big difference....as for did he have authority to write such a citation? One would have to look into state law where this occured to be sure...while I dont agree with handcuffing her and walking her to his car to write such a citation. If you are going to handcuff someone, take them in for a bond, not to go to a car to write them a citation and release them!

Status: offline 		I have been having some fun with this thread...Of course it was ridiculous to arrest that woman. BUT maybe I am from an older generation than most here and I grew up being taught manners. I would never swear in public or around family and I do look down on those that do.

I am certainly not a prude in any way but I expect common decency around my family and that includes profanity. To me profanity is for the uneducated that can't express a thought in a proper manner.

Naw. The real problem is profanity.

What the fuck is wrong with these people? Protecting our children? Hell, I was swearing like mad in fifth grade. Kids are kids. They learn anyway, and learn balance later. One brilliant teacher who recently complained about a single utterance of profanity at a meeting of adults later told some of her young students they suffered from cranial rectittus, and when they asked what that meant, told them. Now THAT shit bothers me as inappropriate for children.

Besides, Wal-Mart DOESN'T have fuck anymore.

P.S. The "profanity is for the uneducated" slogan is and always has been unadulterated crap. Penn Jillette, for example, is a fellow at the Cato Institute. The dumb fuck.

The fire guy went too far by using handcuffs.  He had no way of knowing that her back was healthy.

Ild be curious as to what law does give a fire marshal such arrest power.

Wouldnt it have flowed better to simply ask her to not swear?   rather then to make a scene.

I doubt the woman is a thug.    There are thugs in the world- and there are obnoxious people.   I dont think she has a lawsuit.

There has to be more to the story then a one line comment.    Something is missing from the equation.    The fire guy risks his reputation to arrest a woman over a comment.   There is more to it then this somewhere.

And yet why do we need codified punishable rules for coexisting with others?     Scratch that.    As far as we have gotten away from the bible- the state IS our bible.

In Chicago we have the Police union all pissed off and they plan to picket at the same time IOC arrives to view our city.   What total cocks.

They are pissed because a pay raise has been removed from the negotiations in their contract talks (obviously they are totally oblivious to the current times) and they are pissed over the fact that we finally have a Supt that has harsh attitude toward disciplining officers...It is along time coming.  "To serve and protect" my ass.  The union could give a fuck about the people that these officers have sworn to serve.  A-holes all of them.

I agree.    How will the IOC find a parking space tho?   I think Chicago ought to drop the bid for the Olympics. It cant and wont make money.   

Chicago cops are .... not the friendliest.   I can see the reaction to a 911 call in Chicago.  "hello officer. I am at the Walmart and an rude shopper had the GULL to say yadda yadda yadda."  lol
