SavageFaerie -> RE: Woman handcuffed and cited for using F word in Texas Walmart (3/29/2009 3:20:09 PM)

As someone that grew up in Texas and left because of what goes on, I have do have to say In Texas it is still common to use the N word and it is one that police officials tend to use on a frequent basis. So does bad language excuse them too. As well as residents, I have found it is one of the most racists states I have lived in. Fuck is mild compared to some of the other things that people utter out of their mouth. Having lived in other states as well, I found that alot of Texans could care less what another says. While the woman should have used control, I can also understand her frustration. PA contrary to what you say if a hurriciane is around the corner, emergency items go FAST, even it it takes a turn and goes elsewhere. I dont care how much is coming in to replace the purchased items, it akin to a new popular movie or video game coming out and people are desperate for key items. A natural disaster especially a hurricaine which one can track brings out a frenzy and people tend to not think before saying something PC is the last thing they are worried about. They are trying to get prepared in case its not a monster storm which they are going to ride out, then wait it out to see if they have to get up and go. As was mentioned earlier, Texas is a entity all unto itself. Plus if it was against Walmart rules to use bad language wouldnt they be responsible for posting it in a place one can see when entering? A bad choice of words yes, but to make a scene with many onlookers that are already fretting I would imagine just stressed them more. A word to the woman would have been more than sufficient. She more than likely didnt even realize she uttered it. I can cuss like a sailor and I do try and limit that when out in public and around non cussing people, but if I get stressed and anxious those rules tend to fly out the window of the house that needed the batteries. Having run from Rita, trust me everyone around me and those we ran across were definetly not thinking about the utterings coming out of them.
