Violence of any kind breeds more of the same, Ven, it's rarely a solution to an issue. I would tell any guy who has an abusive partner that the smart thing to do is to get out and stay out, rarely does the abuser seek help unless they are forced to via a court order and even then therapy seems hit and miss due to a lack of commitment.

I came across this woman bites off tongue the other week but was dumbfounded when all the guy had to say was that he would never enjoy a curry again! That's a birthday present he'll never forget.

That is horrible!  What kind of sentence could she receive for this, is it assault and battery?

It is horrible and there has been a spate of similar attacks recently, but we've read news items where the guy has had his penis or testicles severed by a disgruntled wife/lover and usually they raise a titter, which is reprehensible. Why does it seem more socially acceptable for a woman to commit such heinous crimes, do people still think all's fair in love and war? As for the link I posted, I haven't been able to find an update on her sentencing but she was looking at up to fifteen years imprisonment for biting his tongue off.

I hope she gets it, lots of time behind bars to contemplate her cruelty and stupidity.

MissMorrigan,

I am also reminded of the recent incident in the UK where a drunken woman was found not guilty for carving her name, and other things, into the flesh of her equally inebriated boy friend while he had passed out.

Gosh, yes, that was very recent, here's a link to the story: One Night Stand Aftermath

Apparently she escaped a prison sentence in preference of a community order. I guess the reason she received a lesser sentence is that the judge considered the man contributed to this situation albeit unwittingly by being drunk/under the influence of drugs at the time. There is a double standard though, that can't be denied and it's seen throughout the sentencing process of female offenders who receive a leniency that isn't afforded to the male population.

Should have been a much more severe sentence. One hopes he files a civil suit to cover the continuing medical costs of scar removal.

Indeed, what if the genders were reversed ? Betcha he wouldn't ever be allowed to carry a gun again.(domestic violence)

Typical double standard. Refer to Man/Woman thread for reference.

I guess I can manage to be politically incorrect on this @#$%$^ laptop.

An update on this case: Licence to Maim  This is what I don't get, Ven. She maims him during an attack that was premeditated, he's suffered extensive injuries resulting in the loss of a major portion of his tongue, he'll suffer life-long consequences as a result and she gets THREE YEARS, of which just eighteen months will be served if she behaves herself during her incarceration. The 'with intent' part of the grievous bodily harm charge was dropped, yet it was clearly premeditated as she had already decided what she was going to do when she coaxed him into giving her a kiss.
