i found these websites and thought they might be enjoyed by those that admire the Victorians.
Hope y'all enjoy them as much as i did.

This link tells about the different ranks of servants.

And this one tells about dining etiquette.

Even if it has nothing to do with your mode of life, it's still pretty fascinating.

Mr's Beeton's Household Management. Bible of how to run a household at the time, in a  facsimile reproduction edition.
The Australian edition, published later, is especially fascinating with recipes for kangaroo and such. Something American cookbooks never mention.

I have a good library many publications are not in print and considared now to be rare but include early publications of cook books, the house wife's compendium (designed for early settlers in Australia and dealing with Aboriginal peoples).. From time to time I enjoy just reading them as well as various biopgraphoes, letters and journals written both in Australia and in England describing life and living.. Even were I not living a Victorian Era Lifestyle, I would still do this for pleasure, just as I read letters and journals written by my various family members who fought the South including some graphic accounts of life in the Andersonville Prison.

i remeber learning the language of flowers one happy day at the library. There was a type of rose that meant "pleasure and pain", but i don't recall which.
It is so intriging how almost everything was a code! Even the placement of a silk hankerchief.

Aye lass, my wife, Lady Neets, has learned the Language of the Fan too. I remember my Mother, Grand Mother, Aunts and Great Aunts all conversing with fans whilst carrying on light conversations. It pays Gentlemen to learn this to so as not to be disadvantaged.. On my Homepage I have a number of such things so as others can learn if so inclined.
