Well i'm offended kind of, i think, well maybe not, i kinda agree [:D]
 
'Frequency, wit or plain oddness have been our – admittedly not quite scientific – criteria for filtering your nominations for the world's most boring places. And, when it comes to frequency, one place, unfortunately, sticks out like a suntanned limb at a winter's tea party in Scunthorpe.

And, yes, that place is Britain. Not just part of it: the isles as a whole. The British populace is not, by our poll, the most patriotic bunch. Forget the reams of poetry extolling the beauty of this land: many of you think we should just pull the plug.

"The dullest place on this planet must be the UK," says one user, Tony Ham. "Grey sky, expensive and just dull."

Boyvader agrees: "After 30 years of travel, I'm afraid to say the UK is the worst [country]. It's cold, grey, violent and the population is completely controlled by the media."

"Pubs and clubs are the culture. That says it all," says another non-UK fan. Yet another asks: "What were the Romans and Vikings thinking of?"'

Well, I never been to Britain so I’m probably not qualified to judge how fun it is but I do know this:

I’ve been a huge fan of Shakespeare for many years.

I love Yorkshire pudding.

Four of my favorite movies: Master and Commander, Far Side of the World; Godsford Park; The Queen; and V. There are probably others I'm just not thinking of at the moment.

The find the image of standing on the battlements of a Castle on a cloudy, blustery day, watching the enemy army approach to be a very satisfying fantasy.  Something nice and primal about it (of course, I like to toss in naked slave girls - not exactly historical but fantasy has no rules).

Who doesn't like the Beatles and who doesn't enjoy a pint?

1984: Everybody should read it and occasionally re-read it.  Same goes for Animal Farm, Lord of the Flies, Brave New World and anything by H.G.Wells.

Conclusion: whatever Britain’s faults – the place can’t be all that bad.

Scottland
Britain
Israel
Australia

dunno what these people are talking about. I thought it was gorgeous. Then again, I love gloomy weather, so that may be why...

Edited to add: The best thing going is the Steak and Shake and the IHOP.  They are the only things except Wal-Mart that are open after 11:00--well, except the bars, of course.

awww the UK is NOT at all boring! it's a great place!
the first time i went, it barely rained at all :)
there are buildings there older than our entire country! (well, if you count from when Euros got here and started tinkering with things)
it's one of those things you assume but when you actually think about it, it boggles the mind. =p

Wyoming's GOT to be more boring than England.  Wyoming actually has exits off the freeway that lead to NOTHING!  Maybe they put in exits on speculation...

How can a place that can laugh at itself so much be boring? What makes Britain so wonderfully entertaining is its self-deprecating people. It's absolutely unique that way (and god, I miss it!).

When I in high school THIS was all over the radio and new cable channel called MTV.  I’ve no idea how many times I danced  idrunk to it.

Oops… in my list of movies I meant V for Vendetta, although the mini-series V was cool (the sequel sucked, however).  I would also like to add In the Name of the Father to that list.


Not to highjack the thread but I’ve a question for anyone who knows:

Okay, there is York and New York.  There is Jersey and New Jersey.  There is Wales and New South Wales.  You get the idea.  So where the fuck is Zealand?

Yeah, I can see parts of Wyoming too, plenty of nothing out there having driven through it lengthwise twice in Oct.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland consists of Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland. The best information I have today (not being privy to any referendum and subsequent declaration of independence) Scotland is still part of Britain.

Scotland is part of the United Kingdom, or Great Britain, not Britain proper, is how I was always taught.

Either way, there is a HUGE difference between the two areas (and hence the distinction in my favorite places).
