Is there any toy that you rather wish you had not bothered taking possession of? Mine would be a black rubber stick which I picked up at a store in Ottawa. It is has shock value, but if wielded with anything more substantial than a mild tap it produces evil welts on bare skin. Basically using it either requires a sub heavily into pain or so much concentration on my part that it interferes with the play. When asking subs to pick their instrument of punishment I now confine my selection to cane, paddle, ruler or hair brush - that shiny black thing is just too much trouble.

I regret buying a metal cane, it's a beautiful piece of work, but quite honestly I could break something on My boy using it, I have since purchased a rattan cane.

A cheap rabbit...if you're going for insertable, it's not worth it to go cheap, even if you just want to try it.

Nope, but I'm a serious tightwad living on a tiny budget & spend a lot of time thinking about the toys ( ) before acquiring, talk to people, examine them & handle them as much as I can before purchasing . ... & the more expensive the toy, the more it's worth my time & energy to do my due diligence . . . . .

My Loopy Johnny,

Looks cool, Fun to swing around in the air and get hissing sounds. The Welts last for weeks and I have broken skin with a Medium Swing. Been known to cause Sub Dermal Laserations meaning it can cut the flesh under the skin without breaking the skin. It is close to being hit with the Tassel of a Single tail 3 times in sone strike as all three loops are different lengths and so each is capable of reaching Mach like speeds and make contact close to one another but in three very different contact points.

This Toy scares the living shit outta me. I don't play with it unless I'm Pussyfooting around and only let others play with it after the disclaimer.

Note to self... do NOT... bring the bungee whips... to Steelbilation 2009

To the OP- most of my toy regrets have been with vibes and such bought online or somewhere that doesn't have "demos" on display. As I make most of my own impact toys, I have no one but myself to blame if I make one too nasty or otherwise screw it up, lol, although I sort of regret a couple of cheesy paddles/ slappers I bought when I was a n00b.

Hmmm, few toys that have been disappointing across the years.  Can't say there have been any specifically bdsm toys that have seemed a waste but as a grouping pumps or suction devices for use on parts other than penises have been rather pointless.

I don't remember the brand but it's called a U shaped stimulator. It one anal dong about 4 inches, attached to a 7" vaginal plug looked great in the store. We were on vacation in Florida, We went back to the room, I worked her over well and gave it to her as a surprise in a one piece swimsuit  and off to the beach we went. With a sarong. Well within 1/2 hour she starts complaining about an itch.  Long story short the trip got less fun real quick. She was allergic to the cheap plastic/silicone. Stay away........

I've tried several prostate stimulators over the years... sadly, non of them have worked on me. I think I'm immune to them. Which is too bad.

One of those big feathers as well... but I spent less on that.

I've had a few "live and learn" toy experiences. As far as vibes go, almost anything that wasn't a hitachi, I've regreted...I bought an dildo that was too large thinking I might work up to it and never did . I bought not one, but TWO ring gags (one with an intricate head harnass) that we never use because Master's penis is too large for them (we did eventually find one with interchanging rings that could both accomidate him and still fit in my mouth )...and a "tingly" lube that burns like H*LL if I have even the slightest bit of shaffing or irritation
...also some "warming" massage oils that were not that impressive and almost never get used.

Don't think I've regretted anything so far, but I am kinda annoyed that my lexan cane keeps breaking at the handle. That stuff isn't supposed to do that.

I really regret getting the Rock Chick vibe - horrible! Like someone had a 'good idea' and then made it without testing it out, making any measurements correct or putting any thought into what materials were used. What a waste of toybox space!

ARGH!  I just spent almost $70 on Galvenized steel water pipe and hardware to build a suspension/balance bar.  I had the pipe all cut into 9 pieces and threaded at ACE.  They put the youngest employee on the task.  It took the kid an hour and a half to do it and the pieces will NOT go together!

Now my Wall-e, who dreams of being trampled, is coming in two days and I STILL don't have a proper bar to keep me upright on his sorry, slippery hide.

*sigh*  After I paid for all that stuff and my new boy spent about an hour in the nasty heat yesterday trying to get it together, he asked "Did you bother PRICING a handicaped hand rail?  I think it would have been a lot easier and cheaper."

I hate it when they are right.

Hmm... as far as the lexan cane goes, is it really lexan? I have 2, one is lexan from a guy at the Boston FFF that does beautiful stuff with polished stainless steel, and I have had it for like 8 years. I have no regrets at all (although my girl certainly does). The other is a pretty colored one that is like 12 inches long after like 3 breaks from a different vendor, same venue and it is a piece of crap. I broke it once just swishing it through the air to scare the cat away... it sure is pretty though... lol.

As far as other regrets (cheap toys not included) I bought a wireless vibrating egg once on a whim in an adult toy shop and it was a complete waste of like $60. Even un-inserted it almost never activates, maybe mine was just defective, but BIG mistake.

The metal cane comment I can relate to as well, since I bought a really beautiful steel paddle shaped like a short sword, with holes down the center from the same guy that made the lexan cane. I have absolutely no complaints about the workmanship, it is beautiful and rugged as hell, unfortunately you do have to be really careful with how hard you swing it. On a positive note, if a home invasion robbery occurred while I had it in hand, I could certainly beat someone to death with it. That is a major selling point in my opinion... in fact, with that in one hand and the steel handled buffalo-leather flogger from the same guy in the other, I would feel pretty well armed against anything short of a gun... heh.

Two major toy regrets - a vibe I bought once with a pearlescent sheen that started to flake off the first time I used it (SQUICK!), and a cock ring that turned out to be much too tight to be fun or even safe.  The former was from California Exotic because I was young and didn't know any better, the latter from Passion Parties because the previous ring I bought through them was fantastic.

Cheap tens unit - 8/16/2009 3:44:36 AM

Many years ago before I had my current job that allows me to afford the finer things in life, I bought the cheapest tens unit that was available one some online toys site (now defunct).
After getting it, ALL the attachments required special adapters that had to be bought separately and took weeks to arrive. The channel selector went from no sensation at all to maximum shock in one tiny turn. It also ran through its batteries in about 5 minutes or less.

Not a great introduction to electricity play.

the ones I regret are usually the ones that where cheapest.    Nothing wrong with finding a deal but basing decisions solely on price at least for me has just ended up in the garbage more often then not :P
though partically the worst thing I ever bought was a ball gag that was just to big for my mouth was just a cheap $10 thing was basicly unusable cause my teeth would just tear pieces off the ball and leave a nasty taste in my mouth.   Have since upgraded to a more expensive leather version which is much better ;)
So go for quality not price if you want something really good at a low price shop around or save your pennies ;)
