fergus -> surfing profiles (1/29/2006 4:13:59 PM)

Okay, this question might be better on another forum, but here goes.

Does anyone ever search the 'switches' catagory when surfing profile? I mean, anyone other than other switches?

RavenMuse -> RE: surfing profiles (1/29/2006 4:21:12 PM)

I have my search on all catagorys who are female (18-35) and looking for Dom male.

That way I get both sub and switch to look through. But then I'm looking in the UK not the US so less people to look through.

fergus -> RE: surfing profiles (1/29/2006 6:10:54 PM)

Thanks Raven,

I wonder what the diffences here are for Men/Women Dom/sub etc.

Well hopefully you will get more replies to give you a better idea of that.

The question your post raises for me is that it sort of implies that you think a Dom or sub wouldn't normaly bother looking at people who identify as switch?

I can't speak for anyone else of course but I can't see any reason not to.

I'm looking for someone with a submissive reaction to me in a relationship, a switch has that potential just as much as someone who identifies as sub. Mind you I am poly and not mono so have no problem with her finding a sub of her own in order to satisfy her Dom side.

I don't list switch in my 'looking for' because its only their sub side I'm interested in relationship wise, but I certainly don't rule them out.

CuriousPuppy -> RE: surfing profiles (1/30/2006 7:48:00 AM)

I used to occasionally flip the search boxes to various combinations other than outright dominants before it was possible to just set it to seeking:sub male like now. Generally now though I'll just set it to florida+seeking sub:male when I glance at it. I find that the profiles of other submissives and switches will more often show themselves as a real person than those who picked dominant from the pulldown when they setup their profile.

DaddyTime -> RE: surfing profiles (1/30/2006 10:01:38 AM)

As a switch myself, I never search for other switches. I prefer to play with someone in just one dynamic. Helps me to keep my own switching in check and stay focused.

fergus -> RE: surfing profiles (1/30/2006 11:28:41 AM)

I tend to search all the catagories as I like friends just as much as possible partners.

Anyway, I guess when I am looking for a 'partner' I am more apt to search Dommes and Switches.

Normally all I really care about is looking for people in Gainesville FL, or FL. Don't care if they are sub, switch, Dom, male, female, transgendered, old, young. Just nearby, nice and possibly someone to be a good friend with. Besides, I'm not much looking for a relationship, or even play for that matter.

The only thing specifically I'm looking for is a Mentor, which would likely be a Dom or Switch Dominant, to teach me how to use things safely, which requires experience.

But as far as friends, I'm all up for meeting new friends, especially people I can physically hang out with and have fun with.

I am starting a new pet project: starting a BDSM related discussion group for the University of Florida, which I hope goes well. So that people my age and younger have a place to get their foot in the door, meanwhile being able to meet with their peers who also have to deal with teenage student bullshit. I'm hoping such group would focus on helping each other out rather than serving to help people look for their next peice of ass (which I know will undoubtably happen with a few members who would soon find their kind unwelcome). Wish me luck.

For friends, I don't use the search function at all. I just read their posts here on the forum and if I have something to say privatly I drop them a note[:)]

MstrssPassion -> RE: surfing profiles (1/30/2006 2:08:10 PM)

I don't actively search profiles.

I have set the auto search for submissives in Florida, any gender & bisexual in orientation. I do this since the system is set up to show profiles when we log on & when we return to our home page. These 3 settings represent vaguely what I would consider in my current relationship. If I have to have a profile pop up when I sign on, I guess it would be best to see one that may prove to be interesting.

As to why I chose a submissive profile over that of a switch is because I recognize my current submissive as my alpha & it is of my opinion that a switch would be more inclined to be in the role of an alpha if they are actively seeking a dominant. This position is filled to my satisfaction so I see no point in opening that door.

I rarely do searches, but I hope what I have to add will help you.

When I get an email from a male that lists himself as a switch, I am less likely to be interested because I'm not looking for someone that can carry both roles. I am looking for a submissive. That doesn't mean I won't ever be interested in a switch if one comes into my life as one recently did. It just means that I'm less likely to be interested especially if they aren't local.

Thank you all for taking the time to post thus far!

I was wondering if I should've posted this on the 'general' forum ;)

I rarely do searches either and I don't have set preferences to block mail as I like making friends of all persuasions.

I have nothing against switches nor would I be anti having one as a sub, I like strong men who are confident in what they are be it switch or sub. Just once they don't hope to switch with me.

You make a good point Oumae that is probably obvious to some, but not to others. Some switches can be totally in one role with a person (totally Dom with one person, totally sub to another). Just because someone is a switch doesn't mean that you and that person can't have the type of relationship that you want.

communication, communication, communication.

Arpig -> RE: surfing profiles (2/1/2006 9:56:52 AM)

I do. I do it because my Pet has some dominant fantasies/desires she wishes to explore, however she also has a desire to submit to a woman, so a female switch would pretty much be an ideal play partner (or LT addition) for us.

That's very interesting. I think it is probably pretty rare to be searching for switches specifically. Good luck :)

windy135 -> RE: surfing profiles (2/1/2006 4:46:44 PM)

I don't search often but when I do I usually search for Dom men. Seems like most of the switches I have searched end up enjoying submissiveness the most. Just and observation.

Arpig -> RE: surfing profiles (2/1/2006 10:39:13 PM)

Thanks...we may just need it [;)]

mitsu -> RE: surfing profiles (2/3/2006 8:08:23 PM)

fergus, I was wondering the same thing. I've noticed that I get a lot more messages when I'm identified as either "dom" or "sub." I kind of switch between the two (ha ha..) depending on my mood or what I'm actively seeking at the time. But, it does feel deceptive - especially since people can see that I'm "seeking" dom and sub men. *sigh*

Laura -> RE: surfing profiles (2/5/2006 5:10:33 PM)

I flip my profile from Dom to Switch. I don't list myself as sub though.

Yes, I do look for other Switches, first. I think that would be ideal for me. I did get to know a male Switch online for a few years, it was great. Most men are subs though and not as much fun.
