i find echo being a domme amusing. mostly because shes a doll. the show is based on humans being backed into a corner and signing their very lives away instead of something worse happening, being arrested or killed. and they are then wiped clean of everything in their lives  and are imprinted to be the perfect anything as long as you have the money.... so in essence hte perfect slave made domme..

Dollhouse, and it being pulled by network Jackasses is another reason why Whedon needs start his own Production Company and deal exclusivly with Cable Networks Perferable one where he will be respected and get the love he deserves like Scifi or G4.

Firefly was another Whedon Masterpeice that was torn to shit by Network AssHats (Thanks Davan) Firefly was a whole conecpt that could have gone on like Star Trek, but no someone decided it wasn't getting enough 28 to 35 viewers and said we need to add a CGI Douchbag Alien and Joss said NO and what do you know didn't even make the first season.

He allowed that shit to happen with Buffy and Angel and look what you ended up with. In the end NEITHER show came close to resembeling what his vision was and I could hardly stomach an entire episode toward the end of either season.

Dollhouse is an amazing Idea and hard to pull off and yet he did and WELL and now look already this crap.

I give up with trying to find a show I like by the time I like it, it gets cancelled.

Steel

I'm agreeing with you, Steel. I'm still sending hate mail to ABC for cancelling Men In Trees.

Sadly, Science Fiction is just not given enought time to  get an audience and workout growth issues

I read last weekend that the orginal BattleStar Galacitica was never designed to be a weekly series but a Mini Series and a few tv movies for ABC. The network pushed the idea into a weekly series that they wanted on the air a year earlier then the producers were ready to do . The final result.. The series was a top 15 program  and cancelled due to not being a top 5 show due to the excessive cost of the show. Fred Silverman , President of ABC television ,cancelled the show and told the producers that he never even watched an episode  of this show completely through because he did not like Science Fiction.

And ;lets never bring up the cheaper version  as the spin off  Galacatica 1980.. Kewl Motorcycles,,but not nothing else worked.....

I'm putting my respect for FOX on dollhouse.  I was angry when they cancelled futurama, and furious with what they did to firefly.  After hearing they were putting on Dollhouse I decided to give them another shot.  But if this one goes?  Well, I'm getting tired of having fun and interesting shows dangled in front of me only to be snatched away at their whim while American Idol gets another repetitive season.

i think this is one of the reasons i stopped watching tv (aside from the fact that i'm a cheapskate and don't want to pay for cable) everything that i enjoy tends to get cancelled. Or, if it doesn't then they change the storyline so much that it's just not worth watching anymore.

I have never watched that show before, but now I see what all the hype is about. That was really funny. I was surprised that they weren't a little more cliche. The media has been getting better in their portrayals of the lifestyle.

Joss has always been good at pandering to the fanboys. Unfortunately, I see Dollhouse as about 50% pandering. It's getting better, but it's still not really doing it for me, even with dominatrices.

regarding Battlestar Galactica:

not from what i heard.  yes, it was supposed to be just a 2 part miniseries.  but due to the immense popularity, they made it into a weekly show.  which had a contract for 3 yrs, right from the start.  but due to the incredible popularity of BSG, they extended it.  the writers strike added another half season or so, which is why they call part of season 4, season 4.5.  if it was just cancelled, i doubt they would have had the over 2 hour series finale.  they wouldnt have been able to wrap up the entire storyline.  shows that are cancelled due to lack of ratings are rarely, if ever, allowed to have such a finale.

I think they were talking about the old BSG not the show that SciFi did.  At least SciFi has an interesting spin-off coming up ( Caprica ).  I think the 2 hr ending of BSG was about the best series ending I have ever seen, topped only by the Six Feet Under ending.

caprica seems more like a regular drama, then the action and storyline driven show BSG was.  ill have to watch a few episodes before im sure, but right now it seems iffy to me.  'the plan' looks good, albeit a short series.

I haven't found Dollhouse nearly as compelling as Firefly was... I dont find myself giving a shit about any of the characters, aside from Boy Genius who annoys hell out of me. Really hasn't lived up to its potential, IMO.

i like dollhouse.  i think its very original, and well done.  i especially like that eliza isnt always a 'supergirl' who kicks every mans ass in fiting, shooting, etc.  they always make things like that into a battle of the sexes, rather then just person vs. person.  thats another reason why i never liked dark angel.

I think they sorely underestimate the ratings it gets on websites like hulu and fancast.

If they added internet ratings in with actual tv ratings theyd see that doll house actually 5 or 6 spaces higher on the list that it is. If it gets canceled, ill be sad :( but something else will come along. I think scifi is more likely to be killed off then anything else. that and most of america is extremely dense and wants reality tv over actual okay lets think time... even if doll house only inspires you to think about your crotch your at least thinkin....
