FelinePersuasion -> Injured toes. (1/30/2006 6:40:42 PM)

Joeseph rammed his toes on a couch this morning and one of the toes is blackish purple and the other toe has some skin raked off. And it really hurts. Would an ice pack stop it from hurting?

been there done that. ice is good, pain med is better.

the best thing if it keeps up is to pull on the toe and crack it back into where it needs to be. my ex is a doc and did this to me. it works but is not too fun to imagine

when in doubt, see a doc.

We don't think they're damged enough to see a dr , thanks for the ice and pain thing though. I sprayed it with some litacain stuff to clean it and put a bandaid on it.

Get some arnica cream, its great for bruising.

Arnica is a must for every household. I carry a tube of the pills in my purse all the time.

The ice in best applied immediately after the unjury. After a while it just numbs it, but immediately after it helps prevent swelling/bruising. Of the OTC pain meds Ibuprofin is best. It prevents swelling.

Also a soak in epsom salt solution can be quite comforting.

I have a very clumsy partner/bottom. We go through gobs of this stuff.

Giggles when I see MS's nick name

My name is shakezulla, hehe we used to watch aqua team hunger force all the time but that's all I can remember of the song.

Seriously though, For bruising we're not worried about making it go away faster, unless that's gonna make it heal faster, We do have Ibri in the house though when he wakes up I'll get him to take one.

MS I don't think he's clumsy, but just does clumsy stuff sometimes hehe there's a definition I think, but knowing about treating these things is good in all situations:D

Arnica does make it heal faster.

Crazytwice -> RE: Injured toes. (1/31/2006 3:11:09 PM)

His toe might be broken. It will heal on its own whether you see a doc or not.
He should elevate it as much as possible for the next few days, ice for pain but not more than 20 minutes at a time, ibuprofen over the counter 600mg (3 200mg tabs) 4xday WITH FOOD, and don't let him try to shove his swollen foot into a regular shoe. Loose sneakers or slippers is all he'll be able to wear till the swelling goes down and the pain starts to subside.

It's not swollen just bruised, but we're keeping him barefoot in the house:) It's looking better already in three days since it happend. I apreciate all the advice, I hurt my toes before and I remember how painfull it was.

I slamme dmy toe against the wall moulding on accident and they hurt for a month and were numb lol

LadyNeets -> RE: Injured toes. (2/2/2006 3:47:23 AM)

if you can get your hands on some witch hazelrub it gently on the toe this helps with the bruising and it's also helps with pain it wont take the pain away but is relives it.

I gave him some pain killer yesterday and he says it helped a little. Unfortunatly right before I gave it to him he stubbed it on a corner of the dog food bag, But we're back on healng track.

LAdyneets, we do have witch hazle:D
