Look here, there is information about buying used. You can put your zipcode in and search for used cars too.
Do the homework before buying.

try AUTOTRADER.COM too

As with the one Camille posted, you just put in your zip code. The great thing about AutoTrader is they give you the VIN number for every car. Then you can access CarFax.Com and view the history of the car.

Yes, I  *am*  a "BROWNIE".  And proud to be one, too, thankyouverymuch.  Even though they suck.  I still love 'em anyways.   (although, now that K2 is gone, and Braylon Edwards may be on the way out, too, things will get better.)

So what if I am a "Brownie"?   I'd rather be that than a "Squeeler"!!!

And this is no 'mistake on the lake'.  It is a very nice place.  Better here than having to live in  "Pissbooger".

nah...nah...nah...nah...nah!!!!!
*gives sirsholly da raspberries*

If the vehicle is in good/fair shape whatever he's claiming there is no reason why he should be opposed to you taking it to your mechanic. He knows where ya live for pity sake.
As Steel mentioned the repair on jeeps are often and I'm sure they aren't cheap.

Good luck to ya sweets, don't buy it cause it's convenient for you. Buying a car is an investment so it should be thought out and not rushed.

Now, for me, I have thought about it for years and years, and I want a corvette. Oh, and Sir and I would also like a convertible audi tt for this summer. Anyone have one they wan't to sell?

Go get a honda... jeeps are mucho expensive once they start breaking down. Hondas are little common junkers, and hold up surprisingly well.

True story!

Also, my little mazda/reallyaFordRanger has only broken down once in the years I have had it.

Run the VIN number and see if it's been wrecked. Because if the frame twisted, then it isn't safe.

I looked long and hard at Cherokees a year ago, because I used to have a Wrangler that I loved when i lived in Montana, but the more I looked (and the more I consulted with a couple of mechanics who worked for me), the more I realized that no matter how cool they looked and how much fun they are to drive, they just break down too much once you get up over 80 ot 100K miles. I bought a Subaru Forester instead, because I heard too many hororr tales about how often the transmissions and transfer cases on the Jeeps break down, and how expensive they are to fix. You might want to do a little googling and find out what the recommended service intervals are for the drive train, and verify that the maintenance is up to date on those things.

And good luck to you guys. I know what it's like to be in the position you're in, where every penny counts and you have to buy a car just on the basis that that's the only one available in your price range in this particular 2-minute time span. It's a scary feeling, I know. Best of luck, and I hope it turns out well for you guys.
