I have a question, why do subs contact a Domme and state how educated they are, been within their emails there are a zillion typos???

maybe? or they don't know how to use the damn spell checker? (speaking of which, the typo in My topic was on purpose)!! LOL it just always gets to Me, when they are talking about how smart they are, the spelling is so poor! to add to it, why do subs say, " I can't wait to meet you"... then go poof?? it drives Me nuts!

Good question, Kaiel! If you look at any thread about anything nowadays, it is not only spelling that is deficient. Correct punctuation, grammar, syntax, rhetoric, style and vocabulary have all but disappeared from modern communication. Even messages I receive from some attorneys make me wonder how they ever passed the LSAT.

Speaking of which My daughter is dyslexic and sometimes transposes letters, but I meant to outright spell something completely wrong... like "relationship"... relatcionship....I mean just overall phonics is missing or something.. ummm, not quite sure what it is! But then claim they have a PhD... umm, just something I was pondering.

I'm a writer by profession so I'm ever amazed at the number of individuals who claim to be journalists and/or educators who don't seem to understand the concept of the shift key. One can't hand in a thesis or dissertation using all caps or all lower case letters and grammatically incorrect. Why don't they seem to be able to carry that same skill set to their internet communications? It takes far more effort for me to figure out a way to spell words phonetically than it is to just type out the standard usage. I'm also amused by people who hold down the period key and use it in place of a comma (I'm assuming that's the intent). That seems to be a rather consistent pattern I've seen.

Spelling doesn't actually correlate to intelligence. Dyslexia and other learning disabilities show that. Beyond that, many people consider email, chat, forums and texting to be a nonformal situation that doesn't call for proper usage. About all you can do is put it into your profile that you expect them to write properly using spell and grammar check. That way those that still don't obviously haven't read your profile and aren't who you're looking for.

aaaanyway I'm going to say what I do. Heck I type far from perfect on the forums nor in IM's or chats in general..I prefer to just type the way things are said, puntuation, capitalization and the whole thing can fly away (but if I put fullstop in there it IS going to have a capitalized letter afterwards..just my thing) However, if I need to write a letter or if I was writing a message to somebody on here for something else than "sup duuuuuuuuuude" then I'd probably invest my time in writing it properly.[8\|]

Even worse, they've sometimes tried to convey that they're highly educated as part of an overall package of elegance, sophistication and 'high breeding'. Now that does make me cringe. It just makes me think of adverts for expensive, but crap, chocolates.

Since I work in a college town that is full of over educated idiots, that can barely talk coherently, let alone write that way.........nothing surprises me. I do not care much about a submissive/slave's formal education. Their intelligence, common sense, and sense of humour, is what I am interested in.
