Glad to see you admitting it's all spin and bullshit, RML.   I'm afraid we don't have a t-shirt for you, though.  In fact, you might even find some useless jerk-off calling you a racist for daring to question the party line.  Honest appraisals aren't always welcome.

I honestly have no idea what the hell you are talking about.

His budget doesn't go into effect until the new fiscal year starts, as I've stated on this thread again and again.

How is it spin and bullshit when he is operating under Bush's budget?

Talk to me after October and we can have a serious discussion about whether his budget proposals are working.

You know, after they have actually been put into effect.

If you earn less than $250,000 a year, you get a tax cut.

If you earn MORE than $250,000 a year, your tax rates will go back to what they were, before Bush let you off the hook.

But the really exciting thing: They're talking about ending the Cayman Island mailbox loophole for multinationals... that alone will more than pay back the Iraq war. and refill the treasury in a few short years.

Wait, didn't Wolfowitz and Cheney tell us the Iraq war would be paid for by their oil revenues in thanks for "liberating" them?

So we have nothing to worry about there.

A t-shirt?!  For that?  Absolutely not.  This just means you survived the first cut.  Didn't the other poster clearly take, and hold, the position that President Obama hasn't yet made any of his promised tax changes?

Are you going to deny that Obama broke his promise on taking public funding for the campaign, and wound up spending a hell of a lot more than he would have had to play with if he had kept the promise?

Spin?  Shit, Mike, catch me spelling out how the Repubs were at fault for 9/11 sometime...

Oh come now Rich, you know for a fact there was a whole lot more going on there....if you care to discuss it sometime, merely start a theard. The subject matter could be "Campaign finance loopholes and why Republicans love them.".....Short of that, yes I will deny Candidate Obama broke the spirit of his promise.
Unless you think the swift boat campaign of 2004 was free....?

Because according to your take on this, that nothing is in effect yet, all the speeches, all the commentary, all the proclamations, are merely more spin and bullshit, without a shred of substance.  What he says he is going to do.  Wouldn't we have to consider his earlier promise about how he would raise and spend money a fair yardstick to apply?

It's your logic I'm running with here, RML.

Honestly, my concern is that he's going to keep that promise, and just PRINT the money he plans to spend.  We all might want to keep our eyes open for wheelbarrows at the garage sales this summer.  We'll need them to take our cash to the grocery store.

Free Lunch??? excuse me Owner59, but that concept has already been invented....Bush et al invented it; his final act as president was to hand out billions in a 'bailout'.....to his guys for....FAILING.

You see, the 'free lunch' concept is alive and well...only thing is, the working guy is going to have to pay for it....HOW? by being taxed.

Now, these jokers against Mr. Obama are hollering about his tax cut, here, there, later, haven't seen it, etc;...well, Bush certainly didn't put any money in the workers pocket; the only thing Bush put in the pockets of the so called middle class; was his big fat greedy hand.

How long has Mr. Obama been president, guys, how long?????? And whose economic decay did Mr. Obama inherit when he took office????? Who caused this financial debalcle????? Who ran the ship??????? Who saved America with his 'Bailout' to the richest of the rich??????? How was the Iraq war expense to be paid for???? Who unilateraly started the IRAQ war, costing trillions of dollars??? Where was that money supposed to come from?????? Who brought the country to where it is today????

I think you ought to shut up for awhile, and give Mr. Obama a chance; after all a lot of you gave Bush a chance....or was it his brother.

No. you're not running with my logic, you're running in some fantasy world where you think he has the power to wave a magic wand and make all his promises come true in three months.

And again I have to ask, do you not understand how the budgetary cycle works?

He does not have the power to implement his budgetary policies until the new fiscal year begins, as I've said to the point of exhaustion.

LOL!  What a ridiculous statement.  Based on what?  The wonderful measure of respect and regard shown to Republican Presidents of recent memory?

The man wants to spend taxpayer money at levels that make Bush II look like a fiscal conservative, and we are supposed to "shut up" about it?

     Homey don't play that.

I'm sorry, but what exactly is so hard to understand here?

A new President inherits the budget of his predecessor.

So we can't judge things until his first budget actually goes into effect.

(this is in response to you too Crush)

Obama is just as responsible as Bush was during his first year....

I wish Obama had something I, and my colleagues in the Economics Dept at my university, could support.  But what is coming won't be surprising to many of us.   Just disappointing to them, since they were big Obama supporters.  Not surprising...I do teach at a university, bastions of "liberal/progressive" thought.

Disappointing to me, but I wasn't a supporter of Obama or MccCain.

But all the proposals indicate that we will have an income tax "reduction" but an increase in expenditures that are taxed:  fuel (which leads to increases in things that get transported), especially with his "Cap and Trade" desires.  By Obama's AND McCain's very own statements, they want to drive up the "cost" of carbon fuels to make non-carbon power able to compete.  It is in the secondary effects/costs that we'll see the increases, where the direct effects of the tax increase are hidden from the consumer.

Bush tax cuts 2001 and what will follow:
  • A reduction of individual income tax rates from 15, 28, 31, 36, and 39.6 percent to 10, 15, 25, 28, 33, and 35 percent;
  • An increase in the child tax credit from $500 to $1,000;
  • A phased-in reduction in estate taxes, and a one-year repeal in 2010;
  • A big expansion of tax-favored retirement savings plans.
  • All the 2001 tax cuts are set to expire at the end of 2010 unless Congress acts to extend them.
  • Congress plans not to what means big tax increase for all.

So we'll put money into the economy
by taking money out of the economy
then put it back into the economy
and taxing it as it passes through to the economy.

Yeah, that should work.   Simple.

Which makes all the talk of his tax cuts, what, RML?  We are as close to 'on the same page' as we are likely to get.

The thing is, there have been changes in the taxes we are paying.  The payroll deductions have altered, cigarettes are up $7 a carton nationwide (I suppose that works out well for smokers), and stimulus money is hitting the banks and streets.  The bill is going to have to be paid.  Fair game.

Well they went down for most people. He kept his promise.

No they didn't. The monthly deductions went up for a lot of people, but the year end tax obligations remain the same.

Wether or not taxes get cut next year remains to be seen, but it's too soon to claim taxes have already went down.

Of course it's fair game.

Is it too much to ask to give it some time to see how it pans out?

I found a solution and you don't need a tax cut:  Just go Chapter 7 and get the "bankruptcy bailout" instead.  Keep the car and the house.   Lose the $75k+ in debt.    What a deal!  Then, when the taxes go up, be able to say "Hell, I got mine" and not worry about it.  And if they don't go up, even better!

What the heck, maybe even qualify for food stamps and get a free cell phone plan from the Gov't.  Maybe go to school or just get money from government grants.  ( http://www.govfunds.info/personal-grants-for-individuals/  She's cuter than Matthew Lesko )

Yep...time to work the system instead of being worked by the system.   Thanks all, for your coming contributions via the government to my new lifestyle!

       Yep.  Just what I expected...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Millions of Americans enjoying their small windfall from President Barack Obama's "Making Work Pay" tax credit are in for an unpleasant surprise next spring.
The government is going to want some of that money back.
