If he truly is dyslexic and I really doubt it, then there's no excuse for him not to try to present himself well, with stuff like spell check, and time and patience, there's several people who're dyslexic here, and you'd never guess, because they make the effort to make sure that their posts are mostly correct.

I have no sympathy for people who don't even try to correct or over come their disability to the best of their knowledge or ability. I was wrong for saying it's dorky to not be able to spell cancer, when it's a disease you claim to have fine. I admit that.

Now that is just nasty. As one who suffers from dyslexia and especially in the post boxes in forums or chat rooms, I for one usually have Microsoft Word up and set to Australian English which Word bless it's Microsoft heart regularly resets to US English. However in the early days here in CM I was regularly blasted by US based members for spelling because US spelling differs considerably from the proper English used in Australia and the UK.. However there quite a few times that I simply do not have time to get Word running so I wing it and have to the spell check provided by CM which oft missed errors which even I can spot and unless I either preview the post or check it immediately after posting there are typos which get through. Grammar is of course another matter. I have a preference for the older form of grammar used in the more genteel times in England which is oft at odds with modern shortened grammatical formats. Similarly instead of following the modern trend to use short words repeatedly, my passion for the Victorian and Edwardian literary style entices me to enjoy playing with words unless I need to do a short fast post.

However in other portions of your post regarding this unfortunate gentleman, I do believe I posted something similar some time ago with some suggestions about his profile and photo. It is entirely his choice if he chooses to heed any advise given here or not and nothing to do with any of us. I for one would prefer to either move on and ignore his posts or ignore what errors there may be in spelling and grammar and deal with the context of his posts either agreeing or disagreeing. better to attack a post than attack the poster which the Mods will surely fall upon the offender with wrath.

who said i was straight? and yes i did know 3 men in 2 different places who were of that age range, and by the time i had met up with them they were in their mid 60's. one of these men gave me my first leather harness. if you know anything about old guard or any guard,,,,,,, you can piece it together from there. the old guard men i knew had more interest in dominance and submission, protocol and rules, respect and integrity. not sex toys. a certain look and a certain behavior were more important than a sex toy. sex toys can be found anywhere.

i got my leather at a midwest farmhouse without the influence of drugs or alcohol, not some fire island community raffle. then there was a couple visits down south...

check my profile if you like, you will find i am attracted to older types(60-75). it really isnt so shocking i would happen to have known some of these people in practice, and not just from my mothers bridge club.

never been to fire island though, been to manhattan a few times.

masterlink65 -> RE: Why is Youth Such a problem with everyone (4/25/2009 7:06:00 AM)

the reason i learned and excelled at such a young age was because i was the teachers pet. i would spend weeks at a time at the farmhouse. my mentor trained me early on. the people i learned from lived it. the slave was a fulltime live in. my first visit was very obvious to me what was going on.

after high school(83), i went on to college for some graphic arts classes. i excelled there also. i soon started working for a local printer who printed the local, national, and international swingers mags you will see at the porn stores in your area. we also printed some underground stuff. i made a lot of contacts in many scenes, while everything was at my disposal. i was responsible for typeset, layout, printing, coalating, and stictching. this was all in the mid 80's. at this time i also had access to drummer, checkmate, and dungeon master mags. so i learned alot in a short time from that right there.

by the time i got to Ft. Lauderdale and saw the scene there, those drunk coke heads just made me laugh, but they did have a very nice selection of leather, same went for miami. in those days i never made it to the west coast, so as to what happened out there, i cannot say.

there were actually some men who made it through that era that did not contact HIV. also from hellfire. my 64 year old slave walked away from many years of hellfire activity. this is not about sex for everyone,, if you havent realised yet.

this has been mentioned in other threads as well.... if you are not gay, old guard and any of its knowledge is really none of your concern, that is why little is known about it, except for those who were involved. i dont think anyone took notes while all this was going on.

IB It is true that spelling differs from place to place, like someone else mentioned colour versus color.

Spell check on fire fox tells me colour is wrong, but I know that, that's only because  fire fox isn't taking into account how other countries would spell the word.

Ayep lass, I found that too although I exclusively use FireFox. This is why my preferred writing arena is Microsoft Word (Also because for letters and documents I need to be able to send via the net, others usually have Word) I also use for lengthy documents for work and iother areas use Dragon Speaking Naturally which now being well trained by me for voice recognition, makes far less errors than I do anyway with the advantage that I can forget the keyboard and just dictate things from my hand written notes.

I also have found that age seems to be an issue. Especially online. It appears to be either the 'doms' try to "dominate" me and call me phony when i refuse to accept their dominance, or people disregard my views and opinions because i am 'too young to be taken seriously'. However, i've found the people who are prejudice against my age tend to ne ignorant and not worth my time anyway.
Its an issue of not letting it bother you. The decent people worth talking to you will talk to you.

Just to add my 2 cents.

The title explains it all. Why does everyone feel that a bit of youth is such a horrible thing to have? I have been tought by an older Dom friend/Mentor, which means im not just some younge horny kid who has no clue whats going on. Should i add the fact that ive been tought by older mentors or am i just going to be critised by people for the next 3 years or so of my life?

you can't be critised,
unless you let them !!!!

So I wish you enough bandofthehawk.

i have noticed too, how young dom's do not seem to get the same treatment/respect as a young domme.

MirrorrirroM -> RE: Why is Youth Such a problem with everyone (4/28/2009 1:29:55 AM)

Let me apologize right off the bat for the fact that I haven't read all of the posts, but the insomnia/fatigue/chronic pain combo is in full swing so reading 5 pages is not sounding appealing at the moment :-P
I do think it's fascinating how most people would blink at the idea of a submissive of either gender who is in that 18-21 range, and yet there are a lot of negative assumptions about anyone who says they identify as a Dominant and are in that age range.
And in all honesty, even though I'm aware I'm quite young myself, I've most definitely been guilty of doubting the competence of Tops under a certain age without even really thinking about it. I do agree that there is a large element of the whole "with age comes experience" reasoning that has to do with the bias in favor of older Doms, because there is just the realistic fact that they've had more time to learn the mechanics of topping for various activities as well as having had more time to experience real life dynamics of what it's like to actually have a sub or slave, and how each sub/slave will be very unique just like every Dom is unique.
Also, I do think that for whatever reason many(not all of course, but many) submissive women do naturally find something very appealing about the notion of a Dom who in some ways fills that father-figure/big brother/older and wiser mentor etc etc role to them, and that can be a very hard dynamic to really feel with someone younger. My Master is 11 years older than me, and for various reasons I've always found myself more attracted to and more willing to surrender control to men who are older than me. It may not be politically correct, but personally I do feel that I wouldn't feel as comfortable or secure in the relationship if I was with someone my own age.
That said, I have met many individuals who are young and still very intelligent and very willing to learn, and those are attractive qualities in people of any age.
Hope that made sense o.O

junecleaver -> RE: Why is Youth Such a problem with everyone (4/28/2009 8:16:39 PM)

Like LP said, it will be way more than three years.

I try to look at it from the positive light now.  People are very willing to teach me, because I am young.  I'm also female, so maybe that makes a difference.  I might have to put up with some kind of well-intention but condescending behavior...but the information is worth it.  Saying things like I have a mentor so I'm not a horny kid do not help ime.  Saying you are x,y,z is nothing.  Act like it.   Anyone who cares about the truth will eventually recognize that.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Why is Youth Such a problem with everyone (4/28/2009 9:07:00 PM)

When I was young(er), I never felt the biases that people in this thread are reporting, and also I have to say that people may well be RIGHT to be wary of young dominants.  I had an older sub who put her whole life in my hands at a time when I was much too young and inexperienced to be able to handle it; needless to say, I contributed mightily to the spectacular failure of that relationship.  NOW I have a better idea of what I'm doing, but back then, I was winging it, and anyone who is serious about a master/slave relationship can't exactly be winging it.

My advice to young dominants is: Be yourself, enjoy life, and LEARN, but don't be too surprised if older subs have a few concerns about devoting their lives to you.

I'd estimate that people form ideas of what they want out of life, as a result of their own experiences and conceptions; some of which will be misconceptions.

I personally do not have an issue with age either way - older or younger. Youth has its advantages, such as experience can make people world weary. I suppose the trick is to understand your advantages and use them to your advantage.
