SexySea -> Chain Maille Slave Bracelet? (4/22/2009 3:47:20 PM)

I am trying to find instructions for making a Chain Maille slave bracelet.  Does anyone know where I might find them or someone that might have an idea where I could look?

There are both 4-ring and 5-ring variants, it depends on how dense you want it, and how skilled you can get  at the doing. the folks in the SCA have some good armorers, so you might want to contact a local branch. there's also some info at this link: artofchainmail.com/

I make chainmaile lifestyle wear.  It really all depends upon what you are looking for, the quality, and price.  I do a lot of custom stuff.

Thank-you for your response.  I am familiar with Dylon's work and his books.  I know the weaves I just want a pattern for the overall handflower.  Any other suggestions?

Thank-you for your response but I am not looking for something that has been made for me.  I am adding Chain Maille to my repertoire of jewelery making skills.  Since you have so much more experience than I, do you know of a good book or website that might have designs?  I know the weaves I would just like a pattern to start off with.

You mis-aprehend, they (The SCA armorers) can give you patterns, and instruct you in the doing thereof. It isn't hard at all, merely time-consuming. What type material were you planning to use? I would advise against anything other than copper, and I advise against using anythinmg other than stainless steel, as regular steel will rust, copper will leave a greenish stain on skin, and silver is a bit too soft for use in this application. Just type "Chain-mail jewelry patterns" into your googlr engine and go for it. The tools you'll beed wil be a pair of wire cutters, a mandrel to shape your rings on, and needle-nose pliers to bend the wire with. Yup, been there, done that.

mailleartisans.com I suggest a JPL (jens pind linkage)chain. dosent pinch, rolls really easy over the skin, dosent bunch. It's very nice stuff.
