I admire Condeleeza Rice. I hate her politics but she is one seriously driven soul. A career in sport administration or broadcasting beckons - at which she will doubtless excel - but first... hats off, people... becoming the first black woman to be appointed US secretary of state? Top result, major props.

However... (and you knew there was gonna be a "however") I've less positive a view on the news that she sanctioned torture during her tenure as national security adviser.

If she ever felt that this abhorrent decision was justified, why did she lie about it in a written statement last year? If the practise of torture is acceptable, why aren't those who signed it into law saying so to everyone who'll listen, instead of weaselling out of it?

What are the runes saying in the US? Is there likely to be a reckoning for the likes of Rumsfeld or even a real big fish like Condi?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Guardian/CIA/waterboarding

Depends on the dirt they dig up. Honestly, I don't know enough about her, to think one way or another.

I loved the movie W but I am sure she isn't as stupid as that movie spoofed. Then again, I think Bush tended to surround himself with yes men/women. Was she that stupid, or that smart? Maybe she is GW's scapegoat, maybe that's what she signed on for and has the potential of paying the ultimate price for it. Maybe she is that smart or that stupid.

I've been away and so have just realised that there is now a politics section!  Apologies if confusion ensues and thanks, La Tigresse (great name!) for your reply.

It has been my experience that the none too bright tend to surround themselves with the none too bright...so on that basis alone,I am of the mind that Condi was a)none too bright...or b)really good at downplaying her intelligence lest she intimidate her none too bright boss.

Condi is a neocon and co-authored a book with the Bush man put on the 9/11 commission. I think it did refer to a NWO.

With Bush having an IQ two standard deviations above the average...I find it amusing the number of people that keep calling him stupid.

You're basicly calling the people of the US 2 standard deviations below stupid.

Ignorant, has as it`s root,  ignore.

I have a brother who has an above average IQ but doesn`t pay bills on time or is able to balance his check book.

Smarts don`t always translate into wisdom or common sense.

Raiikun -> RE: Condi: Smoking Gun or Mushroom Cloud? (4/26/2009 10:56:12 PM)

Which means it might be accurate to call your brother irresponsible, or fiscally challenged.

It wouldn't be accurate to call him stupid.

Stupid is as stupid does.....Bush is stupid....despite whatever IQ score's he might have gained/bought?....Should we ignore his shortcomings by pointing out where he went to school?
