I`m looking forward to seeing who the new pick is.

Good riddance

Owner59 -> RE: Supreme Court Justice Souter to retire (4/30/2009 8:59:38 PM)

Then you might like Justice Hillary Clinton?

[:D]

DarkSteven -> RE: Supreme Court Justice Souter to retire (4/30/2009 9:24:32 PM)

I always thought the SC was first in first out, or FIFO, not LIFO....

Owner59 -> RE: Supreme Court Justice Souter to retire (4/30/2009 9:31:28 PM)

I`m hoping Scalia and Thomas are feeling antsy too.[:D]

A wooden chair would be a better pick than Ginsberg.

And more aesthetically appealing, as well.

I feel sorry for Obama. Have you guys got any idea how difficult it's going to be for the poor man to find a radical feminist lesbian communist Muslim judge who's behind on her taxes?

Panda, knew I could count on your for late night laughs.  [:D]

MarsBonfire -> RE: Supreme Court Justice Souter to retire (5/1/2009 5:10:28 AM)

Souter is just the first. Have you looked at the ages of those folks? So many of them have been just holding on... waiting for someone OTHER than the Bush Regime to pick their replacements. After all, what good is a life spent on the bench if you hand it over to a dictatorship that wants to undo everything you ever stood for? (You know, life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness...)

I'm guessing three or four will retire before the end of Obama's first term.

Hence, Supreme Court Justice Hillary Clinton!.....

Has a nice ring to it...[:D]

They are mentioning Gov Jennifer Grandholm of Michigan. Let's hope not. She is a walking disaster.

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: Supreme Court Justice Souter to retire (5/1/2009 10:38:44 AM)

I wonder if the name "Anita Hill" is on his short list yet...

servantforuse -> RE: Supreme Court Justice Souter to retire (5/1/2009 1:53:05 PM)

It won't be Hillary. You normally have to have some experience as a judge, usually at the Federal level. She was an attorney for the Rose law firm where to put it mildly, had a few problems. I don't really think that she wants her past dealings at that firm dug into again. Does anyone else remember reams of missing billing records that miraculously turned up on a table in the white house press room ?

Owner59 -> RE: Supreme Court Justice Souter to retire (5/1/2009 3:01:31 PM)

If she presented them then they weren`t missing.lol

~~~~~~~~~~~
I love the sound of Supreme Court Justice Anita Hill!
That would certainly put Judge Long D. Silver on edge......[:D]
MarsBonfire -> RE: Supreme Court Justice Souter to retire (5/1/2009 3:53:41 PM)
Panda,
Yeah, some of Obama's appointments had tax problems... sheesh... why can't the guy vet his choices with the same care as John McCain did, when picking his VP choice?
Kinda like Liberal Senators like Kennedy, Spector, Byrd...et al
TheHeretic -> RE: Supreme Court Justice Souter to retire (5/1/2009 7:44:23 PM)
       I hope President Obama is just as successful in putting an ideological match in that seat, as Bush the First was.
That's sarcasm, right?  'Cause Souter (Bush's choice) was supposed to be conservative, but ended up quite liberal.
Somehow I doubt that Obama will make that mistake with his choice (rumored to be Sotomayor, but could be Wood or Kagan)
