Xmarksthespot -> Wheeler Whips (5/2/2009 8:05:20 PM)

Okie, i know how good a Wheeler whip is, have one, love it.  The problem, i am right now sick of the almost 18 month wait for my 2nd!  Anyone, suggestions on something that is close or beats a Wheeler in looks, feel and cost?  i sure a hell don't wanna buy a David Morgan on, so that is out.  There is a guy i heard about in Australia that makes something called a "Whiskers".  Anyone got that or heard how good he/it is and turn around time?

thanks

ann

The Whiskers is by Matt Welsby and I'm not sure he is even braiding whips any longer. Victor Tella is a great US whipmaker who is kink friendly and makes his own version,  the Wildcat http://www.snakewhip.com/catalog1/Adult-Toys/c36/p103/Cat-Of-Nine-Tails/product_info.html

I own a few of Victors whips and they fantastic in terms of quality and value. Drop him a note and I'm sure he can make whatever you want in terms of whips or other braided toys.

I know them as snakewhips, and they are excellent, some of the best quality whips that are available

The last two times I know of that this happened it was due to deaths in the family. If you're still in contact, that's a good sign. Before he more or less dropped off the face of the earth.

Unless you're  incredibly picky about having a leather whip, try Ron Allen...he's not kinky but a majority of his whips are made for competition whip cracking and all are made of nylon. Making them inexpensive and a great quality. You also don't have to worry about conditioning or cleaning these the way you do with a leather whip. You can take an alcohol wipe and soak the whip and it will be clean. Ron makes them so that the cracker can be changed very easily and sends extras when you order.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!  Will be looking at them tomorrow.  As for the deaths in the family, if it was his parents..i am sooo going to tell them off.  Right now, they are in a holding pattern due to parental health issues.  I know, we all deal with it, but umm..yeah... come up with a new story.

My 25 yo son had my Joe Wheeler whip I purchased in '96.  I recently called him to tell him to send it back to me.  He told me his dog ATE it!  Now I want to beat my son!

I have a Matt Welsby Whisker and do not think he makes them anymore - I love it. If you can ever find one get it.

I own a Matt Welsby "Whiskers" whip and I LOVE it! I am a very serious whip collector and user and I speak as someone who owns dozens of very high quality whips from all over the world. I have heard rumors online (How dependable is THAT?)that Matt is unreliable, but all I can say is I got mine within a week of placing the order and it actually shipped from LA. I also own whips from Victor Tella and though I have not used his version of the "Whiskers" whip, I can recommend him without hesitation or reservation. I have bought a version of the :Whiskers" from EM whips and though their bullwhips, stockwhips, signal whips and stock whips are excellent, I gave that one away as it did not come close to the quality of Matt's whip.

Buy from Victor unless Matt can convince you he is reliable.

I just got a four foot 16 plait black and red kangaroo singletail for my Lady from Peter Jack in New Zealand.  The whip is first rate and Peter is one of the best makers in the world.  From order to receipt it was less than two weeks.  I can highly recommend.

His website is - http://www.thewhipman.co.nz/  The site is not impressive, his whips are. [:)]
