i'm certain it happens....However i would have ZERO interest in being friends with an ex-lover/master/boyfriend whatever the term one would use.

Out of interest, why not? Just because it didn't work as a relationship doesn't mean what initially attracted you to the other person isn't there anymore. I always believed in being friends first and getting to know each other, so I learned to cherish the person and not just the partner (or in some cases decided the person isn't the right partner for me), because he wasn't the "one" for me or the relationship didn't work for whatever reason, doesn't make the person in itself less valuable as a friend.

I dunno.  Depends on the person.  My ex just previous to M. is still a good friend of mine, we just weren't right as a 'couple', same with him and a couple of his ex's.  Then again, there are those psycho loonies that, no wonder we broke up.  Don't call me again.  In fact, is there any way you can UN-call me and give me some of that lost time back please?

I've been able to stay on civil/friendly terms with all but two of my ex-boyfriends, and one of those two we were able to reconcile to the point that we can go to parties held by mutual friends. The other passed away about 3 years after we broke up, when he and his new girlfriend were hit by a bus. I found out through a mutual friend, and even though we'd parted on bad terms, I still mourned him, and I wouldn't have wished any harm on him. That experience made me even more motivated to try to let the people I love and care about know that regularly, and to try to stay at least reasonably friendly with anyone I've ever loved.

I am interested to hear if anyone has any positive experiences moving on from a D/s relationship... a kind ending, is it possible?

Yes. Been there, done it. One must eventually face reality and do what needs to be done is all.

Change isn't easy, it's just necessary.

Oh yes. I think alot has to do with how the parting is handled. For Me, I get out before we aren't able to be mature about it all.

I think it's easier and better with a D/s relationship, because I'm much more up front about what I want and what I sort of envision, as well as my previous track record.
So there are less unrealistic expectations at the outset, I feel.

They get the limited warrenty and the fine print all up front now.

Of course, you could do that in a non-D/s relationship...but it just so happens that I've gotten better at this approach since I've been in D/s relationships, so they seem concurrent and intertwined to me.

But, apart from that, I'm friends (at least of the Card-On-Your-Birthday variety) with all my exes (with one exception!), because I really appreciate having been with them. I appreciate them having loved me, among other lovely things.
