If you want a sex slave, then a photo of a sexy girl in a trashed out room with lots of beer cans and half empty liquor bottles may not matter much. If you want a trustworthy companion/service slave also, then that trashed out room might be telling you that the girl hasn't got a CLUE how to serve the way I want to be served.

Despite that you can still be dressed smart and appropriately and have all the important bits and pieces with you without wearing a jacket on a warm day in march [:)]

Phoenixpower, I wasn't having a pop at you, as I said, it depends what your work is and often getting a job depends more on how you present yourself than what you actually can do. I work for an international company, a lot of work I can do from home, or at the office if we know that there is no client dropping in, we are fairly casual, but I keep a business suit there "just in case", if I'm seeing a CEO of a rather large company, usually they have approached us for our service (but chances are they also have approached the competition), but I will not only research the company, the structure, their image, what they have been doing, what they plan to do, I will also check the company culture, the dress code and try to find out everything about the person I'm meeting. I found dressing to fit into their company culture makes it a lot easier to deal with them, of course I could do my job just as well in jammies or jeans, but it's a sign of respecting the client to make the effort...

Which is why I was saying that you can still be dressed smart without wearing a jacket. Not wearing a jacket doesn't mean that I come along sloppy. I believe on following the dress code, but there are parts which are absolutely necessary and parts which are less necessary. If I go to court with a teenager who missbehaved I am dressed up as I am representing the employer and also have to speak up about and for the teenager I am joining, but for a normal interview normal trousers (which are not jeans) and a nice top does the job for me on that occasion and jacket simply is for that job as unimportant as if you wear grean, yellow or blue socks...but I agree that on some occassions it does matter. Nevertheless on that occasion it did not and I could only laugh about that colleague.

When I signed up, I browsed through other profiles to get an idea of what I should write about myself. I couldn't help but notice how many profiles (mostly women) that were obviously professional photos. The number seemed out of proportion with the likely amount of real models that would have legitimate pro photos of themselves. The attempts to put the most attractive photo they can find, revels how fake it is. I wonder how many models would find that the legitimate swimsuit, catalog photos they did have been copied and posted on here to be used by scammers. Many of these type of photos are accompanied by bios with grammar that isn't any better than the spam emails Nigerian spammers send out.

The funnier part of these stolen photos is that the ethnicity is often at variance with the photo - that's one BIG time when the photo tells you something. " It IS usually easy to spot a professionally taken photograph - BUT - a professional photo-shoot is an increasingly popular birthday or anniversay gift, especially for women, at least around here. There are quite a few photographers/businesses that make a living out of doing "glamour" shoots with a makeover, hair, costume etc for everyday folk to look like models......so the fact someone chose as there best picture one that was professionally taken doesn't neccessarily imply they are fake!

The number of pro photos just appears to be higher than I expect to encounter in any given group of people. When that is combined with no other photos and extremely suspicious essays, and men I have talked ot mentioning they received spam from profiles on here, I believe there are in fact many fake profiles. All the ones I have seen have been of women appearing to be in their early 20's too. If most of them were taken as you mentioned, I would expect them to be even distributed across age, if not, then more towards slightly older women who are typically more likely to afford to get pro photos done.

~FR~ Quite interesting the folks that feel the need to defend trash, clutter, dirty clothes and used dildos as flattering photos on a dating site where the objective is attracting other individuals.....to think that these have no affect or should have no affect is negating the power of our first sense - sight and the "first impression". Having a desk or bookshelf that shows the signs of being used is far different than the topic this OP started with. Seeing people active and involved in projects(even messy ones) is a nice change to the posed photo and certainly doesn't fall in the categories of trash, filth and neglect. *Cleanliness....it's a good thing*~

Okay, it may just be that I'm a sexist pig here, but I think that the thinking is that 'real guys' don't eat anything but meat & potatoes, that 'real guy' abodes are very bachelor-pad-ish, & that evidence of frilly womanhood (ie, healthy eating patterns, & etc) is suspicious . . . . . & I fully understand where that comes from . . .. . I like guys. Hang out with lots of them. But left to their own decorating & nutritional devices, bowls of fruit & ruffled curtains & such like are very low probability items to show up without a femme hand behind them . . .. . . . In most of my pictures, my room is my room. I have school books and papers everywhere, shoes, clothes (clean ones, because well... I like to change my mind when I'm getting dressed. =P All of the dirty ones -do- go in the hamper.) It's lived in and I know where everything is. I'm a college student and I'm sure my Master -hates- my clutter. However, whenever I go over his house, the first thing I do is make sure his room is cleaned up of all clutter. So... I don't think it really matters. As far as anyone else judging my pictures... I'm not trying to find anyone, and I think that we're all human and if our pictures are too perfect... it's a little creepy and staged and I'm going to think something's up. I like it when I can see how people really are in their pictures, that way (if I were trying to find someone) I wouldn't feel blindsided later. Especially since I'm on the I've got to clean it up end. =P

I'll be the first to admit, my chambers are a MESS! I write, I study, I do research, I draw. There's papers, pillows, stuffed animals everywhere. The pillows and plushies, because the pet likes to cuddle with them (plushies more than pillows), I like to pile them up around me when I read, write, draw. There's various claptrap on top of my entertainment center, including pens, pencils, computer wires, even the occasional empty soda can (I have a bit of a lazy streak sometimes... usually). However, do I take a picture in this? Nupe. I have a pic by the fence to the backyard, in my driveway, a couple shots from my room, but they're just headshots and a blank wall behind me. Why? Because it's clutter. Not filth, that's just... ew... But clutter, whatever in the picture... it's supposed to be a picture of me, not all of the stuff I have, not my room, but me. You want a pic of my chambers, ask. I'll think you're odd probably, but will most likely show you, after we've talked a while. But that's not what I want my first impression to be. If someone wants to contact me, I want it to be because of what I've written (good or bad), because of the first impression in my photo, etc. Not because they want to talk about the clutter on my shelf.
