Yeah, apology to Tenacious D.

A British man has been appointed the new caretaker of an Australian tropical island, a six-month position described as "the best job in the world".

Not sure of the next 6 for that particular island, but maybe you could find something similar here...

Yeah, I remember another story about a guy who thought he had "the best job in the world".  Got to take his family to a luxury hotel to look after it in the winter.  Had the whole place to himself, his wife, and his creepy little psychic son.  Thought he'd spend his time getting some writing done and just hanging around.  And we know how that turned out.

It turned out being re-made, starring Stephen Webber, that's how.

*shudder*

Last time I heard about this it said it was an unpaid position so it other words it's a six month holiday but with a load of work you don't get paid for. I think I'd rather save up to be able to not work for six months on holidays somewhere and do that instead.

Now they say it's a paid position isn't that just a prize giveaway rather than an actual job. The fact a charity fundraiser got the job says it all, they are such loathsome types from experience. I’ve heard too many stories of fundraisers with their hands caught in the money box I suppose. Don’t say much about his dedication to the original charity does it?

He gets paid - what I would call .a lot.  - And for what is basically 12 hours work a month and daily blogging?  Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

Mind you, not to say that the islands didn't get good publicity out of all this.

Yea, he gets quite a large sum of money when it is over.  I remember when this was first out back in Feb and i went to apply and the server crashed because so many people tried applying

Besides, 6 months on a beach, think what that will do to his skin in 50 years...Ha..not me, I'll enjoy my cold rainy springtime thank you very much

The islands on the great barrier reef are great (I know I was born in Australia and lived for over 8 years in Queensland), the beachs white, the water crystal clear and the sunsets are breath taking....wow I am making myself homesick.
