we have declined since the prisoners would not make it off the tarmac alive.
Why look a gift horse in the mouth?

You mean to say that you favor beheading these poor souls as they leave the plane? You conservative you. Oh, Oh,  I agree, except for any US citizen being held.  A US citizen has rights , including substantive and procedural due process.    The rest of them should be fertilizer.
                                        ************

My concern is that this is preventing us from dealing with the problems in the US economy.

Then maybe he should stop campaigning over every issue. It would give the TOTUS a badly needed rest too.  (And btw, you dont need Obama to deal with the problems in the US economy. The markets would do that just fine, without throwing trillions away on fixes that wont work.)

We left it in the markets hands before and they wrote about $75 billion in derivatives as the republicans gutted regulation.  Itemizing all the wrongs the thieves did in the name of the free market will take volumes.  Since the free markets a/k/a businessmen, republicans and neo conservatives cannot act with honesty by themselves, they will need a supervisor who is good, honest, faithful to the middle class and lives the constitution rather than spouting its provisions for his own benefit.  Drum roll-may I introduce Barrack Obama.  The thieves could not be honest by themselves so let's see if they can be honest with the constant threat of jail.  I am not a democrat and am so far to the left when it comes to US internal issues that many democrats would be in jail as well.  With about 5 republicans and 100 democrats left in the two houses of  congress, we could start all over. A battle between the middle class and the free market is hopefully beginning.  We need fundamental honesty imposed whether the markets want it or not; deregulation is just a conservative plea to be allowed to steal with impunity.  We need confiscation of the top 5%'s wealth whereafter it is given back to the middle class from whom it was stolen.  Unfortunately Obama is not liberal enough to do the second, but I have hope for the future.

Boy, you're in rare form this weekend, aren't you?

Would those be the same markets that completely self-destructed over the last couple of years and drove the entire global economy to the brink of collapse? Those are the markets that are going to fix the economy?

If anyone still needed a reason to never take anything you say seriously again, this will probably suffice.

Then ignore me, I could care less. What you obviously dont comprehend is that it was government intervention that caused the problems, not the markets.

What you don't comprehend is that telling someone they don't comprehend, they are incorrect, or they are totally wrong doesn't make an argument for your point of view without something more substantial.

there are two things you dont comprehend:

  1. Your opinion means nothing to me. You have never posted anything Ive seen that even approaches rational thought
  2. If he doesnt understand that by now, then he's incapable of understanding it or of an ideological bent that ignores facts that are already documented all over the place. Cutting and pasting links is a waste of time when everything has been public knowledge for so long.

Hee!  Is this Bizarro World you're quoting from?  Clearly you don't know about (unregulated) Credit Default Swaps, and how they brought down Bear Stearns, AIG and Lehman Brothers, and are responsible for over 90% of the 2008 financial crisis...

(hint: no government intervention!)

Intervention doesnt equal regulation.  In fact it was Clintons intervention in the well established but separate insurance, banking and investment banking markets and deregulation through the repeal of Glass-Steagall that allowed CDS to exist. It was then exacerbated by regulatory and political pressure on the banks and FNMA and "grassroots" organizations like Acorn to extend credit to uncreditworthy individuals. Then throw in government manipulation of the financial and housing markets through artificially low interest rates.

Thats the REAL world.

No, not Clinton, but rather Sen. Phil Gramm (R-TX).  His "intervention" (if that's what you want to call Gramm's legislation that made them unregulated) created them.  After that though, no intervention or regulation at all.  But at least you're catching on that CDS were unregulated.

Have you caught on that it was a Republican (Sen. Phil Gramm (R-TX)) who was the root cause of this multi-trillion dollar problem, and not Bill Clinton?

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Civil Liberties and Himan Rights Organizations Oppose Obama (5/25/2009 8:33:27 PM)

What does all of this have to do with Human Rights and Civil Liberties? Seems like there is a small group of posters that often derail topics with BS that has no connection to the subject matter. Please go start your own topic.

Musicmystery -> RE: Civil Liberties and Himan Rights Organizations Oppose Obama (5/25/2009 8:49:53 PM)

AND it's the same stuff they went at all during the election cycle.

The election is over, right?

Just checking.

Sigh.

An interesting side note, possibly: Prior to WW 2, and at times during it, all German military forces took an oath of allegiance to Adolf Hitler, personally, Not to the German state.

No, It was Bill Clinton. The whole ideology of  massive financial manipulation was introduced by Clinton administration. Bill Gramm can introduce bills, he does not have dictatorial powers to make them a law.

Obama has earned very weak grade so far. "No change" president Obama. I would give him D.

Has nothing to do with "ideology", and everything to do with what legislation is voted on.  Phil Gramm's 200-page addendum was tacked on to a must-pass 11,000-page budget bill at the last minute; no one had time to read it.

Nice try though.  Too bad facts get in your way like that.
