There are quite a few of us that really don't like text speak and it is a knee jerk reaction

To the op... I had a similar conversation with a young woman in a vanilla setting recently. I'm afraid I'm a bit more blunt than that girl in this instance.. if you want him back, just tell him. Have an honest discussion.
Tell him you messed up (if that is how you see it) and that you'd like to just give it another shot.

If he says no, then at least you know you tried.

Why can't Australians type in text speak? Do they not have cell phones there? I thought they just were required to put "mate" at the end of all their messages...
