It depends a lot on your skin and tissue, some people do bruise a lot easier than others, in general the more you work out and the fitter you are the less you tend to bruise. A bruise is basically damaged capillaries, allowing blood to seep into the surrounding tissue, so by applying ice on the bruise you slow down the seeping process. There are a few things that do help with bruising or making bruises disappear a lot faster, sun (or sunbeds), wear a panty hose, the massaging effect of the way they are woven will also make the bruises disappear faster, arnica lotion also helps and changing your diet to more fruit. Despite not bruising easily, I'm quite active and do a lot of sports and kickboxing and some inline skating stunts tend to leave you with plenty of bruises, handy to know how to minimize bruising especially in the summer, they do tend to spoil the way a mini-skirt or shorts look ;)
