Richard49 -> are you a slave, submissive or sensualist (8/19/2004 2:56:01 PM)

1) how do you define each of these
2) which do you see yourself if you are not a dominate

sub4hire -> RE: are you a slave, submissive or sensualist (8/19/2004 3:09:15 PM)

These are only my views from real life experiences.

I define myself as a submissive. I am Dominant outside the home. Within the walls of the home or with my Dominant I am his submissive. I was free to choose my way before submission. Since submitting I am his 100%. Yes, I have limits. Only those that will inflict mental or physical harm on me. They are not just things I do not like doing.

So, yes I have a great many choices but I have given them all up with him. Primarily because I trust him with my life.

To me a slave is someone who doesn't submit. Although others would disagree. Anything can happen to a slave. They are property. Love is not required nor any type of caring.
Whatever happens whether good or bad, well it happens.

Those are my personal beliefs anyway. I do respect other peoples definitions on the topic though.

Hello Richard,

These topics have been discussed before here, some still very active, you can do a search and find them...and i am a slave, who has known great love from my Owners/Masters...and yes i am property, valued and loved property.

also, dominate is a verb, Dominant is a adjective

At least once a week someone asks for definitions of subs vs slaves.

I consider myself submissive to my Dom only but not his slave. I have limits and i can say no if i want, but i seldom do. Outside the home i am very independent, vanilla and dominant in most of what i do.

subbiejenn -> RE: are you a slave, submissive or sensualist (8/19/2004 3:23:22 PM)

Hiya,
I have seen posts on this subject before even since i been here. Everyone tends to have different thoughts on the subject..

What_is_the_real_difference_between_a_sub_and_a_slave

ok hope that link works [:D] there is some good differences pointed out in that tread. i couldn’t find the one i was looking for, MistressDREAD had posted a great answer which explained very clearly.

Maybe she will help out again [:)] i always love reading her thoughts on subjects.

i consider myself a submissive right now .. i believe to be a slave i have to find my Master because you give up a lot more then i am willing to at this point. To me a slave gives up more rights and decisions then sub's do. Now a sensualist i would think is more into the D/s then the SM.. Maybe enjoying a little bondage and more of a sensual spanking then actual pain. For me i started as a sensualist, after learning more and getting more into it i became a submissive enjoying the pain as well... One day when i find my Master i maybe a slave but i doubt it at this point. i personally like where i am, like my choices and opinions but i can not say i will NEVER be a slave for if i found that one special Man who i trusted enough i may. If You were to tell me 6 years ago I would ENJOY pain i would of thought You were nuts! And lookie lookie I do 

To me the differences are the degree of commitment (trust) ... degree of pain that is desired...

theroebabe -> RE: are you a slave, submissive or sensualist (8/19/2004 5:32:22 PM)

I see myself now as a sub one who will submit to another within defined parameters.

A slave i thunk is one who gives over more control of themselves in more areas than a sub. been there done that lost my slave card and dont care to have it back unless it is with one who truely deserves it.

sensaualist, yes i am that too, to me it is one who enjoys the thrill and titilation of something new or one who enjoys sensual actvitities. I happen to like both.

iwillserveu -> RE: are you a slave, submissive or sensualist (8/19/2004 5:53:20 PM)

I posted a version many, many times. It will piss of literalists. There is no difference between a slave and a sub.

Note: this is MY opinion. All the idiots can post dictionary definitions all they want. My opinion will not be there their opinion.

NightDaughter -> RE: are you a slave, submissive or sensualist (8/20/2004 6:21:35 AM)

Well I see myself as a slave when I am with my Master, however away from him in the work at large I am a Dominant woman, even at times around Master under sertain situations I am rather dominant (then again one word from him, and that sheds like water).

as to a deffintion of the three...
Sensualist - One who is sensual; one given to the indulgence of the appetites or senses as the means of happiness.
Submissive - is characterized by tendencies to yield to the will or authority of others, or rahter, Inclined or ready to submit; acknowledging one's inferiority; yielding; obedient; humble.
Slave - One who has all but lost the power of resistance; one who surrenders to a chosen power/person.

K there are other meansings out there but hay these work just as well ... also my personal deffitition of sub is A Sub volunteers many different times a Slave volunteers but once.

well take care,

kiki blue -> RE: are you a slave, submissive or sensualist (8/20/2004 7:50:36 AM)

To me, someone who ID's as a submissive is someone whose driving force is serving and pleasing and submitting. I see a slave as someone who prefers another to have control over them.

Limits and rights and whatnot don't really come into it, for me. It's about the mindset and what drives you.

Angels just... Angel![:D]

sweetpleaser -> RE: are you a slave, submissive or sensualist (8/20/2004 11:18:51 AM)

You A/all are so wonderful!! Now I know what I am. I was having an identity crisis. I knew I was submissive, so not respected in vanilla life, but I don't want pain, so I felt I didn't quite fit here either! Now I can say I am a sensualist until I know more about being submissive. I've never had the opportunity to go to a Dungeon and try anything. So, I suppose until I know that part for sure, I can just describe myself as a sensualist. whew![:)]

I'm serious here. I needed a label for myself (goes along with being an accountant, I guess).

All the replies have been interesting
I see some did not get my question and that is OK
We all enter discussions with blinders and often each of our blinders are different

As I posted in my intro I have been in the lifestyle a long time
and come from a different preceptive than many
(I am not saying my kink is better than your kink)

Over the last three years I have been on a search
it has had many facets to it

One facet is been looking for a "submissive/slave"
I have meet many who claimed to be one or the other or both

As we talked I found that IMHO they were sensualists and found no pleasure in serving/submitting

So here I set ....... what are these words? titles/roles/adjectives/identies?
is someone a sub because they enjoy bondage/pain?

Is there the part of pleasure and or satisfaction from serving
to be a submissive

Is there a difference between satisfaction and pleasure?

To me being a sub is more then enjoying bondage and pain but i enjoy being Dominated. Even so i enjoy the sexual i really love the mental. i am a natural submissive from what i am told, i am submissive to a point in everyday life. i don't like to be the Leader but i want to follow. i don't want to be in charge and i have a awful time making big decisions.

i enjoy serving and obeying ... The Dom i am seeing right now lives 3 1/2 hrs from me. W/we have meet but most of O/our relationship for now is online or on the phone. Him giving me Tasks to do gives me alot of pleasure and i do them faithfully and get a great deal of satisfaction knowing i do them for Him. When He was here i did more actually serving for Him more like getting him coffee in the morning but i get a great deal of satisfaction and pleasure from it. i love pleasing ..

Is there a difference between satisfaction and pleasure?

pleasure - A source of enjoyment or delight - Sensual gratification or indulgence.

satisfaction - The fulfillment or gratification of a desire, need, or appetite.
Pleasure or contentment derived from such gratification

maybe a thin line there - lets say i desire to be canned.. i would get pleasure during the canning and satisfaction once the desire is fulfilled

darkinshadows -> RE: are you a slave, submissive or sensualist (8/20/2004 2:36:24 PM)

Labels are labels...

Angel says... she is Angel... but thats becasue as far as my Husband and I are concerned... that is who she is.

Do I enjoy pain?... Sometimes... but it doesnt drive me.

Do I enjoy serving?... without a doubt and I do so every day in many many ways, some ways others probably wouldnt see as serving.

Do I submit?... Yes... and to my husband and I am so blessed because He accepts me for who and what I am.

Am I a sensualist?... Yesyesyes...

Am I a slave?... well my limits are gone because my Will is my husbands'... so yes.

What I am trying to say is that IMO... what does it matter? In reality... everyone has a different perspective upon what each catagory of person is.

(see these threads is You wish: )

What say you, slave?

What is the difference...?

sub/slaves

If You are comfortable within yourself and (if owned)... within the relationship... who needs a label to justify what they are? If You believe You are a submissive... then go with that... if You feel sensualist... then go with what label makes you comfortable... in the end, the word label is something that means a 'ribbon or fringe'... its there to identify what it is attatched to by its creator. What is more important is knowing who your creator is... Yourself... and if Owned... Your Dominant.

Sorry Richard: I didn't mean any disrespect. It was a case of thought popped in head and spewed out of mouth. winces and bites her lip.

Sincerely,

Nothing for you to be sorry for

One thing that this thread has allowed me to do
is to read the profiles of folks I other wise would not have meet
or known ........ I have just read yours <smile>

ohiobisub -> RE: are you a slave, submissive or sensualist (8/20/2004 7:15:44 PM)

Frist off, let me state that i am not a Dominant and that this is my first time replying to a post on here. As for myself, i feel that i am a sensual submissive slave all rolled into one.i do realize that there are many different opinions on this subject. To each their own, so go along with what feels and fits you the best.
Breaking down each of these it is my belief that it is very possible that one ( or ) myself begins as a sensualist with a desire/longing/craving to become the submissive that Their Master/Mistress so hopes for them to become. As time progresses and the relationship grows stronger, the submissive has that longing again to go further and deeper into the lifestyle. Surrendering their all to Their Master/ Mistress, Dom/Domme , thereby willing themself as Their slave. Kinda like a three stage cycle, but still all rolled up into one nice package.

bottomlet?
Now there's a new one for me

kiki blue -> RE: are you a slave, submissive or sensualist (8/22/2004 6:27:07 AM)

You don't have to be submissive to enjoy pain or bondage. The aren't mutually exclusive terms.
