I like to check out some dom profiles sometimes just to see who is about. But sometimes I come across some that have little if any details that describe the person they are supposed to represent.

i took a lot of time and effort to write my profile and disclose some things about me and who I look for. In included details that seem significant, perhaps, to a budding relationship.

It would be helpful to find the same sorts of information on prospective doms.

The ones who really get to me are the ones who spell out precisely what they want and how i will kneel blah blah blah. And nothing about what they have to offer me. These people are so NOT going to be interesting to me, I mean, talk about egos being overinflated.

Its a two way street so why are some dom profiles so limited, i mean, last time I checked we didn't pay by the word?

There are no doubt many reasons for why anyone says or doesn't say what they do here. Personally I find that my time here continues to be of an evolutionary nature; so, I tend to focus on open ended possibilities. There is no list or rules that are hard and fast that I apply in a  cookie cutter set of expectations. I prefer a dynamic interplay. That is a challenge to express in a profile needless to say.
We are not lists to compare to one another. We are living sets of experience and hopeful expectation looking for moments of completeness. The biggest hurdle is to actually obtain that first conversation that really means something. The rest simply becomes details.

This slave wrote to her owner on the basis of an ad which simply said 'Owner seeking property'. Nothing else; no picture, no extra information, nothing.

zaphira has seen profiles from submissives and slaves who offer just as little in the way of information that Dominants sometimes do. The lack of information is not limited to the Dominants only. *grins*

If zaphira was looking for an owner, she would tend to gravitate more towards the ones who do not list a whole lot; for this slave, the less information that is shown on an ad; the more zaphira is intrigued.

Of course, this slave knows that most do not feel the same way.

A. They're dumb.
B. They're lazy.
C. They think being a dominant, alone, is impressive.
D. All the above.
E. None of the above.

Pretty sure must fall into A-D with maybe 10% or so picking E for our multiple choice question of the day. :)

You don't have to choose between having a laundry list or having a sparse profile that doesn't say anything.  There's a multitude of options outside those extremes.

Occam's Razor.  Most doms don't have decent profiles because their dominance does not extend to being able to write competently.  There's an awful lot of really bad dom profiles on here.  But, funnily enough, I'm perfectly happy with that state of affairs.

I find that most Dom profiles fall into one of three categories:
  1. The GOOD.
  2. The BAD.
  3. The bad arse UGLY.
However to answer the thread heading is easy: Everything I know, do, have done, experienced, wanted to do and thought about. Quite a few people I imagine, know, do, have done, experienced, wanted to do and thought about. What makes each one of us unique (forget about finger prints and DNA), is the way we are put together and the way each one of us know, do, have done, experienced, wanted to do and thought about. no two of us know, do, have done, experienced, wanted to do and thought about the same way and thus each one of us are unique.

Just my view, no more, no less.

Meh. I'm not big on advertising myself. Honestly, it does me no good to mention a laundry list of things I have to offer if the person on other side isn't receptive to them. My profile used to be much longer and more adequately informative, but it's in a transitional stage at the moment.

Fortunately, though, there's plenty of my blather accessible via the "forum posts" button on my profile to get an idea of my mannerisms and frame of mind.

It's all a matter of attraction, in the end. Presuming an honest use of the profile bio, people will inevitable attract the like-minded. Unless (apparently, so I've heard) you are an new female submissive...in which case you'll likely be attracting a majority of the male members in droves.

Greetings RealGirl4One....

I don't browse that many Dominant profiles but I have seen a few. For some reason, I seem to stick to the submissive and slave ones. <grins>

However, the same thing happens there. They range from nothing now and never has been anything to massive amounts of text and journal entries. Regretfully, most don't give the information we would really like to know when looking for someone. I am probably as guilty of that as most people are.

As was pointed out by another respondent, we learn to read the code words and filter accordingly. Sometimes we can be wrong. But, being right most of the time saves our time and energy. This is a good thing in the long run. The good thing about some of the profiles is that they do show what the person lacks. I assume, barring further knowledge, the lower the writing skill the lower quality of mastery and dominance...or submission. In my experience, attention to detail and overall intelligence go hand in hand with the ability to safely and successfully do things with other people in a D/s or M/s lifestyle.

Be well....

Malkinius

The "buy me, I'm well trained" slave profiles get me. Fair play if they're genuine, but everything about them screams "FAKE" to me, and I'd never contact them.

As for my own profile? What's unique about me? Not a clue. It's not a shopping list, so I guess that's pretty unique...

I'm open to contructive criticism tho, so get critiqueing, if that's your bag (on t'other side, if it suits you and saves clogging this thread).

I can play Xbox with my feet!!!

Wait, is that not the question?
Its easy to get caught up in the whole Grr im a dominant I get anything cand do anything I want bit, if you want to know what someone has to offer you, why not ask them? Obviously there is some form of interest there to begin with if you are reading thier profile at all.

Droves is putting it mildly. If this keeps up, I'm going to get carpal tunnel.

Only problem with the filters is that they don't make exceptions for friends from the forums. I don't use them because they would filter out 90% of the folks I like here, lol.

Don't think of profiles that don't interest you as a problem, think of it as a blessing.  It is like a giant "not for me" sign on them.  Imagine if everyone wrote fascinating profiles that all resonated with you?  No way to sort out who may and may not work for you.

As for me, I don't know how unique I am but I am certainly an acquired taste.  As for my profile, all of mine are blank or hidden at the moment.  I am sort of undergoing reconstructive surgery of a psychic, emotional, and physical kind and am going to emerge soon as either a moth or a butterfly, depending on your perspective.

When I am preusing profiles, I tend to gravitate toward ones I think give a good sense of who the perosn is as well as noting, if a photo is provided, if I find the erson physically attractive.  So, it's much more aobut quality than quantity but I am more likely to like a longer profile (And mine's pretty long too).

SOME DOM profiles are limited because...:

they have a big ego and think saying DOM is enough
they want to lure someone in to talk with minimal info.
they are lazy
they are unsure of what to say yet
they really can't describe themselves
they are fakes or wanna bes
they have an idea that less is more
they want to illicite response from certain ppl
they do not want to limit who responds by being too specific
they are in transition about something
they want to be open to many

If it is NOT interesting to you then it weeds out quite a bit...
quickly..

I am unique in that I combine..a lot of sensuality, creativity and pain together in interesting ways such as doing art work on the sub..with BDSM "tools"...

Funny enough I don't read Dom profiles however if I did I'd react the same way as I do to the myriad of sub/slave profiles out there with little to no info on them. Write the person off as having the communication skills of a retarded rock and move onto look at the next one.

Im a sub but my profile is completely empty at the moment. This is because it was full of bile and now as I am not looking but not wanting to project the bile its empty.
