MichiganHeadmast -> peacenik terrorism? (6/2/2009 5:16:40 AM)

http://news-political.com/2009/06/02/huffington-moulitsas-responsible-for-murder-of-soldier/

...where is the left-wing outrage? Why is Eric Holder not dispatching troops to guard military recruiting centers? Is the life of a soldier worth less than the life of an abortionist? Is my priest a terrorist when he refers to abortion as “the killing of babies?” Should I be detained because I agree that late-term abortions are homicides? Or because I condemn the murder of young soldiers because they are wearing the uniform?Or are the people posting on Huffington Post and Daily Kos simply political lunatics?

Let the sophistry begin!

(Don't look now, but I'm pretty sure it already has.)

It's quite obvious that a gun ban would solve this ridiculous shooting frenzy situation [8|].

Oh, wait... you'd probably be one of the first ones to protest against it, wouldn't you?

        It does seem that a link to the actual news story is called for.

What makes either killing less heinous than the other....was the Doctors life somehow worth less MHM?

        Way to very quickly change the subject to something you feel comfortable with, Kitten...  I don't think your hijack is going to work on this one, though.

It's called HUMOUR. Get some: maybe next time, you'll get it.

....i hadn't heard about this story before, but i'm glad that a) they've caught the alleged perp and b) they're treating it as terrorism. If, as is suggested, the motive for the attack was political and designed to create a political response then it classes as terrorism and ought to be treated as such. As for the peacenik bit, if the political motive was some bizarre formulation of pacifism.......then that is equally apposite.
All political/phiulosophical positions have the capacity to create extremist fringes that act in a way not supported by the main stream.

Though I am sure I will get slammed, I tend to agree with you.

I do think the life of the abortion dr was precious, but I consider all life precious..even others people might not give a shit about.  We all have someone out there that loves us, be it our kids or our mom.

This to me is as much of an act of terrorism as the killing of the dr was.  Actually any soldier that walks around in uniform, or person that walks into a recruiting center is at risk.  It might be from a gun, it might be verbal attacks.

I do get tired of the double standard in the media, but that's just the way things are and we might as well get used to it.

edited to say:  btw, thank you heretic for the actual story.

Well, I'll avoid sophistry and simply point out that there is no evidence at that the man arrested for the shooting in question had ever read huffpo or dailykos or what exactly his motives were, although I will say that he is a convert to islam who changed his name which of course arouses a suspicion having nothing to do with any sort of US style leftist beliefs.

That compares not at all to the man arrested for killing Dr. Tiller. That man was previously convicted of building bombs and had the phone number of another convicted terrorist in his possession when he was arrested. With minimal effort it was possible to establish more than 15 years of far right wing and anti abortion activity. He also has a quite easily obtained history of making violent comments in online forums. Since it is also trivially easy to find numerous anti abortion groups that praise what he did it is reasonable to tie him to those anti abortion groups.

Wow, two terrorist attacks under Obama's watch in one week, he might want to consider staying in the White House and actually running the country, instead of taking on Broadway.

Lucylastic -> RE: peacenik terrorism? (6/2/2009 9:01:55 AM)

Under four hours before someone brought up Obama... took longer than I thought...welll done Rob.

slvemike4u -> RE: peacenik terrorism? (6/2/2009 9:04:16 AM)

And the connection would be what exactly SubRob?

Because he would have been able to do what to prevent either?

CM should spin off a separate venting/tantrum room. It would take the pressure off a lot of threads.

It should be pretty clear, I think the soldier's lives are worth at least as much as the doctor's.  Where is the outrage?  Where are the marshalls?

If it makes you feel better, I think the doctor should have been free to be armed, in church or elsewhere.  Nuts are nuts, wherever they originate.
