Chevere, no?  ^_^  Buena suerte con su programa--tal vez lo escuchare.

She has a Spanish-language BDSM radio show starting up.

The joke by newlychaste is that the word "cono" (pronocouned co-no) means cone, like vanilla cone, whereas the word "coño" (pronounced co-nyo) means "cunt."

Um.. Yep. Which is why I wished her luck on it..[;)]

I always understood coño to be "damn"...

junecleaver -> RE: Hola a Todos esta es una NOTICIA (6/3/2009 7:20:26 AM)

They sometimes use it like we might use damn, depending on where the speaker is from.  So you probably understood correctly.

I would imagine the only English rule would help keep order around the boards.

Yeah, the anatomical slang changes a lot.  The word "vaina" in non-Mexico Central America means "thing," as in, "Can you pass me that thing."  According to the dictionary, it means "scabbard," as in a place you put your sword.  However (I bet you can see this coming), in Mexico it means the place in the woman that the man puts his, um, sword.  Hence the great phrase, "Ay ya la vaina!" which is a play on "Ay ya la vida" (What a life!).

Emperor1956 -> RE: Hola a Todos esta es una NOTICIA (6/3/2009 8:27:04 AM)

Red, I always learned that that delightful little place was "panoche"   as in "que buenas panoche, chica!"   A few years ago some enterprising young lady was denied the Florida vanity plate "BREAD-8" which of course translates quite well into "pan-ocho".

So....Ms. Emp and I, in anticipation of retirement to Puerto Rico, want to learn more Spanish.  Any tutors?  (I'm serious -- be in the Chicago area and fun and fluent).

E.

junecleaver -> RE: Hola a Todos esta es una NOTICIA (6/3/2009 6:41:38 PM)

That's what I love about the language.  It can be so absurd and colorful.  I'm just now learning more or less mexican callejero as I studied in South America.  I'd love to know what they'd call all of the toys.

Yes, that is the, uh... putative rule of thumb, I believe.
