Daniel Schorr has an interesting solution to the Gitmo problem -

"So here's a modest proposal: How about President Obama announcing that he is ready to end America's century-old presence in the Cuban Bay?

The evacuation would be immediate, leaving the installation as it is. That would leave Castro to figure out what to do about the detainees. The Castro regime is pretty experienced in handling prison populations."

So their "solution" is to just walk away? Or as they liked to call it during the election, to "cut and run" from the problem? Admittedly, this does sound like something Bush/Cheany would have come up with...

Except it was "come up with" by Daniel Schorr, one of the earliest examples of liberal media bias.

Hmmm, they had 6 years to do so, why didn't they?

Face it, Obama hasn't done squat to end the war, or deal with the detainee's.

As much as I find a lot of the Obama bashing on here to be tiresome and usually asinine, this I have to agree with. Other than replacing the commander in Afghanistan, and transferring some troops there, I don't see much progress or change on either of these fronts. Sad and a little disappointing.

Unfortunately they put them on boats and push the boats toward Miami....
Not an easily dealt with issue but, one that needs to be resolved and soon!

Iraq or Afghanistan?

Either way, point is, that's not the same as claiming to do something and not "do squat." Even if it's poor policy, did what he said in this instance at least.

There is no "they". This is nobody's plan - I assume that Mr. Schorr was being facetious, as he often is. I thought it was a hoot, and that others here might also find it rather amusing. Silly me for thinking that y'all had a functioning sense of humor. [8|]

Just by his using the phrase "a modest proposal" is a pretty solid clue his intent is satire.

Hmmm.

I can't see any way Limbaugh could be described as a "columnist."

Nor as one offering mere irony--at least not intentionally.

I suppose one could argue they both present opinion, but that's a pretty stretched comparison, as suggested by the terminology, "detractors," presumably as opposed to "supporters."

Columnists might have readers, but supporters?

Ah well. Whatever. Semantics.

But first we'd have to convince at least some of Limbaugh's supportive listeners that they are hearing an opinion, not the news--a distinction probably not needed regarding Schorr's commentaries.

Or perhaps otherwise. Just musing.
