I went to a massage place, and I didn't know the guy doing my acupressure massage didn't speak English, I talked to a receptionist, who spoke english  She sat me down and then pinned my hair up and then someone else came and started the massage once I was face down and ready, and when he was hurting me I had toannounce  you're hurting me and wait till the receptionist over heard me onounce you're hurting me and then  translated my complaint into his native language. Now I suppose I could of made it QUITE clear non verbal ways he was hurting me, and continued to do so after I said that does not feel good. And how do I even know she was telling him to stop, since she was speaking chinese, maybe she was telling him ignore the white honkeys complaints and keep going?

And yes I won't go there again, before any one says well then don't go there again.

OW, No and Yes are universal. But he should have employed a 10 point number scale that someone could have translated to you. 1 being least and 10 being most. We do not want the pain above 7 or 8 for more than 15 seconds. There is nothing wrong with him working with you if you were given the appropriate way to communicate. The failings is the lack of forethought of the therapist and establishement to give you the tools to express your pain. I would talk to them about it  or go somewhere you feel more comfortable that you can communicate your pain levels and get the appropriate response.

Also when you do have pain from accupressure or trigger point therapy deep breathing is very important. Take a deep breath in and slowly let it out. The pain should go down. If it still hasnt gone down then the therapist should ease up.

Yeah there was no warning he didn't speak English,  and no code or way to communicate given, they're not even a place I normally go to, we were out running errands, and they were done, and the massage place happened to be in the same parking lot as our last errand, so I said "heyDaddy they cand o me right now do you mind waiting 30 minutes"

btw after the massage, why did I feel hot sweaty and dizzy, a tiny bit disoriented, and then kind of calm and serene and floating? the room was pleasant to be in it wasn't an overly hot day, I assume what he was working on caused chemical changes in my body or something cause I went for a treatment for pain and tightness in my shoulders and neck, and my neck continually cracking and creaking from poor sleep positions.

You should research your places and always make sure they are qualified. Many storfront places may employ people new to the country who are notstate licensed because they are cheap to hire. So lesson learned. Dont go just "anywhere" for your massage.

Yeah and that kind of sucks because it can be really nice to sometimes be like oh hey a massage place I have time lets go there, and it be totally random. Stupid question but what kinds of things do you need to look for to make sure they're qualified?

it happens with increased blood flow...i would assume a good thing. Also, the increase blood flow causes more oxygen to the brain, which can cause (harmless) lightheadedness for a little bit.

Lushy is the expert on this, though.

If it was ok for it to happen, I wouldn't mind it happening again, aside from the hot and sweaty part hehehe.

Your spinal fluid eeks out at times in a variety of different settings, back when I was doing Yoga (before I turned my attention to being a fat bastard) I used to pop my back every other long session or so, whether it is good or bad depends on your past, in most cases it doesnt matter, but if you did a drug like Heroin or speed things can get nasty, however when they get nasty, you know it pretty damn fast. I wouldnt worry about it. a little more bloodflow, a little adreniline, no real harm done

A diploma from massage therapy school and a state licence when you are in a place that you need one.I would find out wht school they went to, how long they have been practicing and what advanced certificartions they have. Usually just a talk about what your medical issues are and how they respond to your question as to whether they  are just for fluff or can do clinical work.

LOL!!! It was chemical changes. Drop in blood pressure and raises in seratonin, endorphins and such. A lowering of Dopamine. YHMA was correct!  Also increased circulation and oxygen flow like Holly suggested. A flushing of the lymphatic system also.
