In the new book, "Renegade, The Making of a President," by former Newsweek reporter Richard Wolffe, President Obama -- then in the midst of a tight Democratic primary battle with Hillary -- accused the former president of being a "bald-faced liar" and a "loose canon."

I am not sure about the loose canon part because I am just not well enough informed factually to say so, but I think we all know he is a bald faced liar. Then again, I think most politicians are.......which is really quite frightening when you think about it.

It seems that the only way to suceed in politics in this country is to be a skilled liar. Polished, sell yourself, etc etc etc.

That all being said, I still cannot help but like that sorry bastid for the entertainment value. I got a chance to see him speak here a few years ago. No doubt about it, he has "It." and I can see how he got as far as he did.

He may be a bald faced liar and loose canon but he is very intelligent and charismatic.

It's just too bad his dream wasn't in acting rather than politics......

I am not sure about the loose canon part...

Perhaps they were talking about a different kind of "loose cannon".

Yes it was.........I've got cameras on the brain today. Besides, us ignorant farmers never could spell worth a damn. I was going to go back and change it, but that would ruin the whole effect.

The part of the story that I also found intersting, is that Bill almost cost Hillary any type of job with this admin. I believe he definately cost her the spot as VP. It was a good choice to remove her from her Sanate seat, so that in 4 years she would be less likely to face Obama again in the Primaries. This just shows that many of the political realtionships are made exactly for political reasons, and not necessarily for who is best for the job. I also believe that Bill craved some of the attention when all of this was occuring.

How do those statements effect things within the White House today though?

Glad you cleared that up for me. Now could you explain why you believe that they do not? Does anything that Bill does or says, cause any problems between The President and Mrs. Clinton?

Hi Orion,

The pundits were all over this at the time. Bill Clinton loved being president, and you don't just go from President to quiet bystander given half a chance.

Yup, he crossed several lines during his wife's campaign--and so did she. I supported her as Senator, and she did a good job, but I was dismayed at her actions and words during her presidential bid, and I'd have had a hard decision to make re-electing her again while trusting her far less.

She went for broke, and lost. Obama had to do something with her/for her/for her supporters. Her cabinet post was a reasonable result, but I'm quite sure after a number of pointed behind the scenes discussions.

What happens next is anybody's guess. Politics in the U.S. haven't made sense to me for a few decades now.

Live well,

Tim

The question I was replying to was how do Obama's comments in the article affect things in the White House today, or at least that is how I interpreted your question. I highly doubt that Hillary holds these statements against Obama. Bill is a liar, witness his many affairs, and she knows this better than anybody. I am sure she is aware of indescretions of his that the public has never heard of. And Bill is also a bit of a loose cannon, some of his antics during the primaries make this patently obvious. I recall various pundits discussing if Bill was a plus or a minus for her campaign.

Hillary is a seasoned politician, and I suspect she said similar things about Bill while closeted with her advisers and strategists, to think otherwise is to assume she was naive and unrealistic, and that I do not believe in the slightest. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the topic of keeping Bill on a tight rein wasn't part of the negotiations between Hillary and Obama regarding her as Secretary of State. The risk of Bill trying to upstage both Hillary and Obama has always been there, he does love the limelight, and with no electorate to answer to, he is free to say any damned thing he pleases, so the likely (to me at least) scenario is that he has been reined in and told in no uncertain terms to keep a lid on things, that he had his turn, and now it is their turn.

This is likely the closest to the Presidency Hillary will get, and she is far to tough a customer to let Bill ruin it for her. He owes her big time for her performance over Lewinsky et al. If he screws up to much, she will loose her office, and they both know that.

At least that is how I see things.
