He sharply rebuked Ahmadinejad while visiting Germany:

Obama: Concentration camp 'horror' persists

President says Buchenwald is 'the ultimate rebuke' to Holocaust deniers

WEIMAR, Germany - President Barack Obama witnessed the Nazi ovens of the Buchenwald concentration camp Friday, its clock tower frozen at the time of liberation, and said the leaders of today must not rest against the spread of evil. The president called the camp where an estimated 56,000 people died the "ultimate rebuke" to Holocaust deniers and skeptics. And he bluntly challenged one of them, Iranian President Ahmadinejad, to visit Buchenwald.

"These sites have not lost their horror with the passage of time," Obama said after seeing crematory ovens, barbed-wire fences, guard towers and the clock set at 3:15, marking the camp's liberation in the afternoon of April 11, 1945. "More than half a century later, our grief and our outrage over what happened have not diminished."

Yeah, well, credit where credit is due.

Ahmadinejad must really be getting under Obama's skin. What's next, a cage match?

He had to do something to calm Israel down after his ME speech.

We'll see what his actions are, because we know we cant rely on his words.

He called for an end to the Israeli settlements in the West Bank too.

He called for a recognised Palestinian state too.

A point aside - the United States has nuclear weapons while others have weapons of mass destruction. Nice eh.

He is doing exactly what I would do...[8D]... He is laying his policy out to the world...no mistaking what he stands for on any issue. He has sent a message to both sides along with an opportunity for meaningful peace.

World opinion does count...Bush could not understand that...Obama does. If we continue to follow a fair policy and call out those that are only self-serving there will be a much better chance of peace.

And if not peace then the world will see the true face of the offender... There will be no excuse to blame America...I hope.

A complete mischaracterization of Bush's foreign policy. He valued world opinion up to the point where it threatens US security or sovereignty, and if Obama doesnt believe the same thing, Darwin help us all.

Yeah, I don't want to turn this into an Obama bashing thread because I thought it would be nice to acknowledge this act of his in Germany for what it was without diminishing it, so I'm just going to say I disagree with you, with some of what you're writing here, and let it go for now.

I will say this, Obama is getting his education, that this is a flying middle finger right in the face of the leadership of one of the very nations which W very appropriately called a part of an axis of evil. Obama's not going far enough because he thinks letting them have nukes is a good idea, but at least this is something, and it's one thing that Obama has done that I can say I agree with.
