Arpig, I got an email from someone who must be her sister.  What is the best airfare you have found for the refundable plane ticket to send?

I think just the opposite.
There are more "so-called" Masters looking for slaves for financial purposes.

I am a 50 year old male sub.

I'm considering hiring myself out to the highest (Domme) bidder.

(I take credit cards).

(If necessary, I can offer 48 month terms).

(Very nominal interest rates).

(Okay, fine....LOW interest rates).

(Okay....no interest rates).

(Right then....I can pay a small amount).

(......okay fine....what kind of money are we talking here....?)

Ya know....I'm offering discounts now......

newlychaste -> RE: recession increasing the number of available slaves? (6/6/2009 6:20:45 PM)

In my opinion, upward mobility is a relationship issue no matter the state of the nation:
A dominant will naturally incur some minor costs--or, to be more precise, costs are incurred by a D/s C/couple (lol) relative to the scene (usually--but not always--the dominant partner has) planned--and should generally be compensated in kind for such.  This means the submissive needs to have at least some income.
Conversely, the submissive (unless very wealthy) cannot be relied upon for the entirety of the Dom/Domme's living expenses.  I'm sure there are enough "financial Dommes" that make a living based on the collective wallet raping (insert your own terminology here) of tens of "pay piggies," but what, in reality, is the substantial quality of that life?

I don't believe it's categorically reasonable to expect one person to fully support another adult person--at least, not without the tax breaks of marriage--no matter the economic climate.  In other words, you can't play if you don't buy in.  And a live-in situation is a pretty huge buy-in, especially during times of national financial instability and uncertainty:

Person 1:  Hi, you seem pretty cool!  Can I move in with you?
Person 2:  Well, I do have an extra room that I'm not using, but you'll need to bring your own cage/whip, and pay me twice the difference in utilities, sixty percent of the groceries, and one hundred-fifty dollars a month.  That should be about three hundred or four hundred dollars.
Person 1:  Oh, I don't have a cage/whip.  Can you buy me one?  Also, can I pay my rent in [insert your favorite fetish here]?
Person 2:  Do you really think your [insert favorite fetish here] is worth four hundred dollars a month?  If so, doesn't that make you a prostitute?  And if it does, what makes you think I can afford a prostitute?  I didn't have one BEFORE the recession!!

I'm sorry, but there's no such thing as a free meal--someone has to pay for it.  On a dinner date, traditionally the gentleman (Dom or sub) pays for the dinner, and (generally speaking) I agree with this; however, in terms of 30 "free" meals a month, the recipient of those meals is, in my opinion, overstaying his or her welcome (a.k.a., being a leech).  Move in with your parents, Person 1.  The community of people that Person 2 is a part of doesn't like your Person 1 free love and mooching, you dirty hippie.

Ultimately, Person 2 isn't "rich enough to support" Person 1 unless Person 2 can afford to fund Person 1's retirement account.  No matter how much we all would like to find a partner who loves us for who we are, is wonderful, and is rich, it's not an entirely realistic goal.

Not been a member here very long at all but I was surpirsed to see the number of females willing to relocate. Unless I am misunderstanding the use of relocate ...

Anyone know any history of the great depression and how "slavery" or selling of ones body may have played out then?

IronBear -> RE: recession increasing the number of available slaves? (6/7/2009 9:51:22 AM)

My understanding of the period of the "Great Depression" include indications based on writings at the time and family letters is that there was a marked increase of ladies including suburban housewives and even some socialites turned to prostitution (from the elite call girls to street whores) in order to survive and keep a family together.Similarly some single and married women turned to prostitution in order to gain additional food vouches and special treatment (in occupied countries) during WW2.

porcelaine -> RE: recession increasing the number of available slaves? (6/7/2009 4:19:52 PM)

nope i have found the reverse. i find more men wanting me to be their slave and to give up employment instead. and recession or not, i have yet to meet one person through collarme that had a sincere interest in me that wanted anything different.

there have always been men who prefer their woman stays at home and maintains things. that will always exist whether or not we're in a recession. economic conditions aside, everyone isn't suffering and some simply won't sacrifice various elements of their lifestyle regardless of how the economy flows.

DeViLiVeD -> RE: recession increasing the number of available slaves? (6/8/2009 5:43:54 PM)

In my country, its still the same. Very few SERIOUSLY looking. Mostly are curious and wants to exchange an email or two then never on this site anymore. Active ones are scarce so didn't realise the sudden fluctuations as mentioned. Its a taboo here to even talk about BDSM openly (Openly as in even to close friends).

QuixoticOtaku -> RE: recession increasing the number of available slaves? (6/14/2009 1:01:30 PM)

OMGz... not so much this, but my submissive girlfriend lives with me basically because it seemed she had nowhere else to go--She ran out of financial aid so I crossed state lines to pick her up.  Since then it seems more like moochville, and she feels victimized that I don't want her up all night on the computer... and I won't 'let' her get a job.... okay... keep trying to get a job... it's been months so... good luck with that.

corsetgirl -> RE: recession increasing the number of available slaves? (6/14/2009 9:29:42 PM)

For myself, I am not that desperate to belong to any dom and I like being a little independent, not just finding a sugar daddy, but hey, that is me.

However, I did get a C-mail from a pro dom who wanted to discuss the hourly wage he would provide services to me. I am on a limited budget so I am not one to require these services.

flamingpuppets -> RE: recession increasing the number of available slaves? (6/15/2009 4:30:15 AM)

I refuse  to depend on a man (Or woman), unless We happen to be married and have children and it is necessary at that time. I think that a good portion are trolls, and the rest well its just sad I suppose. I would relocate for the right person, but I won't put that on my profile because why waste my time talking to someone 2000 miles away?

RedMagic1 -> RE: recession increasing the number of available slaves? (6/17/2009 7:28:28 AM)

I figured I'd bump this thread, because I just logged in, and at the top of my homepage was a woman's profile saying she needed to find a place to live by the first of the month, and she would prefer to move in with a dom.  Her profile had no traditional "scammer characteristics," and I think it's for real.

I'm not willing to write a person in that situation.  She would make a decision based on something that had nothing to do with whether she was attracted to me.  However, I bet her mailbox will get plenty of action.  Chum in the water, baby.

WoodenPaddle -> RE: recession increasing the number of available slaves? (6/17/2009 7:48:03 AM)

*lol*
Is it really the recession? I mean, I keep getting reactions from girls who want to move in. Often even without even having chatted, just having received an email in answer to theirs to me.
Last week someone was actually sending me an email as to when I was "going to come get her"...after I had only send her a polite decline one her first email.

Back to topic: during times of recession it often shows that more prostitutes are around as it forces some people to find a way of (additional) income in order to survive.
As a result of the influx of new (often temporary) protitutes the price for their services tend to go down.
I cannot say at the moment I'm seeing more than the usual amount of adds like the one described here, but it is possible.

spatejak -> RE: recession increasing the number of available slaves? (6/17/2009 8:33:07 AM)

I'm getting quite a few emails from slave girls eager to serve me and to relocate from various parts of Africa. As soon as my $43 million arrives from my Nigerian banker, I may import a few of them:)

WoodenPaddle -> RE: recession increasing the number of available slaves? (6/18/2009 12:58:20 PM)

*lol*
You as well eh? Actually, it's lovely to see you're going to get cash from that Nigerian banker...mine wants to pay me with a few tons of gold, but doesn't want to tell me how many trucks I need...*grins*

But seriously,

I AM looking for someone to permanently live in with me...in time. After a suitable trial period...and that's only after a very extensive period of chatting and meeting RT.

pyroaquatic -> RE: recession increasing the number of available slaves? (6/19/2009 1:01:32 PM)

Where I am currently at I am trying to get a second job so I can have some extra cash money. The only reason why I have my first job is because of family. Although I would not mind being a submissive assistant/secretary to a Dominant who owns their own business... they have to make sure I am well worth my salt though! Of course food would be nice to eat. :D
I am more than just fun to look at I swear!

Unemployment is at 11 percent here. I have been looking for about a month. There are odd jobs to do around here, which makes it better than where I came from which had nothing. It had become a ghost town. Spooky.

I keep telling myself things will pick up and I hold my chin up high. Forward March!

AlexandraLynch -> RE: recession increasing the number of available slaves? (6/23/2009 11:55:34 PM)

Any sub who lives with us has to work. We all work. We do not have much to offer beyond love, good cooking if we all buy the food, and laughter to lighten the hard times, but at least it's something we are honest about, and another working class sub will not look askance at it.

roland23 -> RE: recession increasing the number of available slaves? (6/24/2009 1:34:41 PM)

I hope there are more subs out and about. The more the merrier!

Could be that a lot of people have been laid off due to the economy and they have a lot more free time to troll around on the internet.
