I quit smoking 35 hours ago.  This is rough.  I have nicotine lozenges which help (was told by a doctor they are more effective than gum or patches) and am drinking plenty of fluids.  I'll sometimes go up to an hour with no craving and then it hits so incredibly hard that it's amazing.  I know that after the first 72 hours it will get easier.  I'm not going one DAY at a time at this point, but one HOUR at a time.  : )

I quit once for 22 years and was stupid enough to start again.  I know I can quit again if I set my mind to it.  This time it is under a doctor's orders because it is aggravating a preexisting condition which means that by stopping I will be a healthier slave.

Has anyone else stopped to be better in their role in the lifestyle?  Did you find this helpful?  Did it make the tough ride easier?

Congrats and good luck! I have a quit date picked (that's coming up scary fast).

A friend found this site helpful when she quit: http://www.quitnet.com/qnhomepage.aspx

Interesting, please update if it does make it easier for you :)

For me, it's not about this at all. My 4th grader has recently become a smoker in her dreams. This is my driving force.

Hi chamberqueen,
I stopped smoking 12 weeks ago, yup it was hard, tho I don't know whether it was anything to do with my "role", I just knew I had to quit once and for all, slave or not lol..
I know Sir hated it, that gave me more motivation I think, though whether it made it easier I don't know.
Good luck , you can do it
xx

Thanks for the encouragement!  I've quit before and typically the second day is the hardest for me.  This morning was pretty rough but this afternoon and evening went more easily than I expected.  I used to have a cigarette at the end of a meal and I read to replace that by brushing your teeth.  I found that actually helped quite a bit.

I wasn't given a task to quit smoking which I'm sure would have me looking at things in a different light.  I'm doing it for health reasons but I realized that the better I take care of myself the better slave I can be.  I was just curious to see if anyone else had used that for motivation.

*raises hand*

Yes, it did. In my case, the reasoning went something like this. I believe in leading from the front and so if I want to have the right to tell carol what to do with her various vices... well... In my head, I was "earning" the collar around her neck and that was some serious incentive to get it done.

I am on day 11 as a non-smoker and used the same method you did chamberqueen. Also just taking it now 1 day at a time. I just couldnt justified smoking anymore and in honor of late hubby wanted to fulfill a promise i made to me 4 years ago.

best of luck

Good for you!  I am only on day 4 but it is getting easier.  It helps to know I am doing it not only for myself but also for another.  I enjoy it so much when he is proud of me.

i quite smoking Past Aug... so.. coming along up to nearly a year.

i used the patch to help get me through the first stage..and they worked GREAT for that.

The motivation had nothing to do with being sub, and nobody ordered me to do so, the reason why i did..

was..well.. things got scary around a year ago.. i came down with a summer cold/sore throat combo.. that had me hearing strange popping sounds in my lungs as i took each breath.. a sorta wheeze. Plus i got sick of always needing to "clear my throat"

i still have problems with needing to clear my throat.. but i've heard it can take a long time for that aspect to clear up.. but its not nearly as bad as it had been a year ago... and i havent heard the strange popping sounds.. in a long time.

Fear is a very strong Master... and it was fear that made me quit
