LaTigresse -> RE: Are there pro slaves?? (6/15/2009 1:56:35 PM)

Kinda spastic with all the weird new threads. Calm down. And yes there are pro submissives. I believe we have a few that post on the forums.

GabrielleSlave -> RE: Are there pro slaves?? (6/15/2009 2:08:07 PM)

i would have thought pro slaves is defeating the object of being a slave myself.... Pro subs maybe, but not slaves...  Still that's just my opinion... *smiles*

I know of a man who has a place where they have pro submissive's as well as dominant's.  So pro submissive's are out there.

here2serveFromKY -> RE: Are there pro slaves?? (6/15/2009 2:13:40 PM)

i think the term "pro slave" is an oxymoron.  How can one be paid for their services and still be considered a slave?  in such a case, i think the term "whore" would be more appropriate, a term i would never use to describe a pro Domme (or any for that matter), because what they receive is a tribute which is one of many ways a slave shows  its appreciation.

Nice first post. *in case you didn't notice this was a one big fat sarcasm*

I can only echo my cute little, not so subtle, butterfly's sentiments.

IronBear -> RE: Are there pro slaves?? (6/15/2009 3:16:01 PM)

Professional slave? Tends to defeat the object of the slave's bondage doesn't it? Professional submissives? Hell yes I have a good friend who is one and a jolly good one at that..

Lynnxz -> RE: Are there pro slaves?? (6/15/2009 3:29:55 PM)

Professional slaves? No, of course not, the world would implode, it's like ripping the fabric of space and time.

All kidding aside, there probably are, but there are many who will get pouty about the idea.

Do you have a problem with whores?  Your tone seemed rather nasty, but perhaps I was just reading you wrong.

I don't think prodommes are "better" than whores.  I also don't think quantum physicists are better than whores.  However, I do think that people who treat others with respect are better than people who cast slurs on others because of the work they do.

I've missed your posts Red.

Sorry, an hourly fee is NOT a tribute. It's a payment for services rendered.

I've always wondered how a Pro Domme can be paid for their services and still be a Domme when the payee gets what he paid for. A close friend of mine, who is a Pro Domme, discuss this quandy quite a bit. Sort of chicken vs the egg.

Caius -> RE: Are there pro slaves?? (6/15/2009 4:49:51 PM)

If by pro slave you mean someone you can keep around your house and force into the most debasing situations with little regard for their dignity and freedoms for a (usually nominal) fee, then yes, of course there is such a thing as a pro slave, though this class of person usually goes by the more recognizable label of "undocumented domestic worker."

But all jokes about genuinely exploited individuals aside, I think your gonna run into a philosophical distinction again and again with the responses you get to this question -- most people who opt for the terminology of "slave" want to feel that they are themselves in fact owned, which would make it counter-intuitive to give them money (in that their owner would then automatically be in possession of it again, through them).  Not to mention the fact that most people who opt for a master(or mistress)/slave dynamic tend to view it as a more long-term and intimate arrangement and would consider the idea of payment out of place or downright crass.   On the other hand, I've always thought putting aside a little money for your slave, now and then for the entire time they serve you,  is only the right thing to do if you are able and care for them, just for the eventuality of circumstances unforeseen.   But of course that is something entirely different and in fact something the slave might not even be aware of.    The only scenario I can think of where I personally would think of a "payed for slave" as a non-oxymoron is if you rented another's slave from them for a time in which they were explicitly told to heed your commands as if they came from their owner; here the financial transaction would have value and the slave would still be acting through loyalty to the person they feel owns them.

Short of that, there is no shortage of people willing to bottom in any number of activites for a fee, from what I can tell.  In fact, I'm sure that your average sex worker can probably be talked into a good deal of bdsm activities for the right price, though I also imagine that finding one that reacts in the fashion you want to whatever you do with them would be difficult.

Oh, and KYboy,  no one here is judging you for your fetish to pay someone to treat you like a tool (well, ok, I'm judging, but I'd normally do it silently), so perhaps you should return the courtesy. Especially given the average prejudice for paid-for-bdsm usually runs particularly high against the patrons of pro dommes... Much as I'm sure you deserve to be treated like a tool.

It kind of depended, from client to client...

YOU mean whore from the word horae as in sacred Priestess?

as in House of HORUS in Egypt where the horae were honored and revered as embodiment of the DIVINE..?
and held a position higher than that of physician and surgeon?

Not necessarily. It depends on how you define professional.

There is the why meaning of the word, someone is doing it for a living.

Alternatively, there is the how meaning of the word, someone is doing it in a very polished manner. They are not been sloppy.

EDITED because the original grammar was sloppy.

pdv99 -> RE: Are there pro slaves?? (6/16/2009 3:04:17 PM)

Start ramble:
I think we should stick to "professional" to mean someone who carries on a profession, does something for a living, (or as an adjective to describe the way they do a job - i.e. someone who does a task full time has usually taken the time or training to learn to do it right).
"Slave" I'd usually take to mean a human who is (or professes to be) the property of another. So as has been said above, "professional slave" is a bit of a contradiction in terms.
However I think the OP was thinking more along the lines of pro-sub, or bottom, and simply being a little sloppy with terminology that the more picky around here are quick to pounce on.
Pro-subs definitely exist - I dated a delightful lady briefly who was a pro-switch. I've every reason to believe she enjoyed what she did - but needed to earn money from it.
Whilst we ARE being picky over the use of terminology, can I put in a mention of the usage of the word "expert" - which really means simply one who has experience in something. Doesn't mean an "expert" knows more than anyone else, just that they have done it for real. You can't be an expert from book learning, no matter how knowledgeable you are.
My pet hate is the misuse, especially in the media, of the word "enormity". It doesn't mean something that is enormous. That would be "enormousness" or maybe "immensity". Enormity should be used to describe something terrible or repugnant, unacceptable. Hence one might talk about the enormity of a serial killer's crimes, but shouldn't talk of say the "enormity of Barack Obama's victory" unless you really don't like him.
End of ramble
(ramble - to walk, wander.....oh god don't get me started again. I really must get out more)

Actually, it does.

you would call them a whore...but not use that term for a pro Domme or anyone else.

Well then...just what type are you calling a whore?
