Pregnancy safety - 6/23/2009 11:57:54 PM

I recently found out that my boyfriend and I are expecting. (Yay!) I'm due in January. Before I was pregnant we had a lot of fun experimenting with different aspects of BDSM and both really enjoyed either being the Dominant or submissive. I prefer to be the submissive most of the time and really enjoy spankings, being tied up, extremely rough sex, etc. My question is should I just stop doing all of these things until after the baby's born and I've healed and stuff or are there some aspects of BDSM that are pregnancy safe? Any suggestions and help will really be appreciated. Thanks! :D

my advice would be to talk to your OBGYN and let them know that you and your partner enjoy rough sex... and ask what would be the best advice they can offer.

don't let him tie you up until you get over the "have to pee every three minutes" stage.

And...talk to your ob/gyn.

I completely agree that you should talk candidly with your OB/GYN.  Having said that, (and at the risk of pissing a lot of people off), I would stop BDSM play during the pregnancy if it were me.  Of course, it is not me and so it is completely up to you and your partner.
My reasons for this are purely, .....subjective.  I believe in the emotional states of the mother affecting the unborn child.  And while there is certainly a feeling of euphoria (sub-space) and endorphins and adrenaline present, there is also the possibility of fear, anxiety, stress and feelings of subservience.  While I do not believe any of these things are bad for consenting adults, I believe it is unfair to intentionally subject an unborn child to the possible effects of your choices.
Again, all this is just a reflection of my feelings were I in your place....once again, I am not in your place and do not presume to tell you what to do.  However, I thought you might like my reasons for my point of view, rather than an arbitrary response.  All of this is merely 'food for thought', which you can either consider or totally disregard.
In either case, congratulations on your upcoming little addition, and I'm sure whatever you decide will be best for you.  Good luck, be safe and enjoy!

While you may actually have duties you must perform........

You carry a child, is it your Master's?  If you can guarentee the outcome...........

Otherwise, you have this term in which you must balance.
