There are going to be an awful lot of shattered illusions in the future, Michael has confessed this to me just now through my spirit guide.

Well I liked his music when I was a little giffer way back in the Jackson 5 days (much better than the Osmonds), didn't care much for his "king of pop" stuff though. And I really have no idea about the molesting of little boys. To be honest I think he probably was sleeping with them in total innocence, he seemed just fucked up enough to me to do that. As for dying young, well he was a year older than me, and I sure as fuck don't feel young.

Awww, I always like the Osmonds. Of course Marie was born the same day as me, so I always felt a connection. That and I thought she was kinda hot when she got older.

I felt young till I started reading this thread, now I think it's time for bed.

And who do you propose to "judge" what is "normal".
Are you asserting that sleeping with unrelated young boys is "normal"?
You state "esp us kinky folk" ... we are part of society ... why especially do "we" stand out as poor judges?

Never liked his music, or him. Thought he was a waste of human life and many a time thought about killing myself rather than suffer through any of his music. But I figured he'd kill himself, or die before I ever was forced to listen to any of his music.

Not glad he's dead, but not sad either. Just another one bit the dust.

How pitiful.  You call someone a waste of life and piss on him in his grave, because you don't care for his music.  Happy to make light of his life and early death, while he leaves three young children behind, and other loved ones.  Pitiful you suppose you're the one to judge someone worthy to live.

To those who are pleased to disrespect Michael Jackson and flaunt their judgment of him, even on the day of his death, I realize you're anxious to indulge yourselves, and some of you think you're pretty witty.

I wish you'd just keep quiet.  I wish you were able to conceive of a celebrity as a real live person.  Michael Jackson worked very hard, seemingly at the expense of his childhood and a normal personal life.  He brought many people joy.  He did a lot of charitable work.  He made a positive difference, while entertaining.

It is a tragedy what happened to him, his being publicly disgraced and reviled regarding unproven accusations that are almost impossible to disprove.  Should a man's life have been ruined, just because you "think" he "probably" did it?  You can't imagine a reason he might have been falsely accused?

Money, perhaps?  Michael Jackson had a lot of money, was very high profile, and let many children and their families into his personal circle.  Do you not think it possible that the family of the first boy saw a vulnerability they could exploit?  And that the second boy's family came back to the well?    I would never blame children, themselves, if they were pressured or confused into saying what adults wanted them to say.  The children are victims in that case, too.  You don't think it's possible, even likely, that could happen?  People do even worse all the time, for a lot less money.

And the other witnesses against Michael Jackson, regarding the first accusation, why would they lie?  Money, perhaps?  How much do you think tabloids and TV shows pay for a story that goes, "I never saw him do anything.  He's a nice guy." - ?  How much for a story where you saw him do something suspicious?  And one where he did something bad?  When the first accusation was made and there was a media frenzy, a couple who did domestic work in his household, told one publication, for which they were paid a bit of money, that they once saw his hand on a boy's leg.  By the time they were paid 10 times as much, in another publication, the hand was inside the boy's pants.  What would that couple have done, if they'd been called to testify?  Would they have risked being sued for slander, for their exaggerated story, by telling the tamer version in court?  Weren't they kind of stuck with the worst version of the story, once they told it publickly and sold it?  That is how the media manufactures false testimony.

So, if it's you, and you are accused of sexually abusing a child, and you didn't do it but everyone is talking about it, everyone is beginning to have their doubts about you - they always thought you were weird, anyway, and they're searching your house, they're taking statements from everyone you know, the court of public opinion has you convicted: will you let it go to trial, confident that the justice system will do its job and find you innocent?  Or will you pay the family off?

And what if it didn't matter that you were found innocent, because your name had already been dirtied by the very accusation, itself?  There'll always be that doubt about you, now.  Your name and this crime of which you're accused, will go together in people's minds.

If that happened to you, then no matter how much good you did or how hard you tried, at the time of your death, tragically and inevitably, people would be talking about this, the crime that highly motivated prosecutors in two cases, talking to dozens and dozens of witnesses, including other children, could never prove you committed.

i would never settle or pay someone off. It would have been a court battle...IF i was innocent.

So many good arguments for both sides and I must admit to having mixed feelings last night when I heard of his death. Part of me felt like crying, another part thought that at least his kids (and many more) are safe now. As I listened to the radio station playing his music from his younger days I realized that I was mourning the loss of an innocent talented young boy, a heck of an entertainer, not the freak show that transpired before our eyes.  We can only speculate about what happened & of course, pass judgement.

holly, have you considered the kid AND his parents accepted the settlement?  Therefore, you could possibly turn it around and think that since they DID settle that money must have been more important and possibly MOTIVE for the charges and the charges were bogus?  And the parents and attorneys and kid saw him as an easy mark which was obviously true since in the end he gave them what they really wanted -- lots and lots of money.

Working in law, criminally and civilly, many people DO settle out of court and its NOT an indication or admission of guilt unless its actually stated.  The court battle means nothing --- think of OJ -- he was acquitted yet MOST people still believe he did it.

People settle things all the time with the exchange of money or some other concept --- its not an admission of guilt.

To me, i see it more of an indication he was innocent because the accusing parties settled for money instead of a verdict.   I cannot say if he was guilty or not, i personally have no idea and don't have enough information and facts to say, but either way, now..... he is dead no one but the parties involved know the truth.

you bring good points, Angel. If i were the parent of one he molested, i question whether or not i would want it go to court. It would be an awful trauma to the child to face his abuser and publicly relive what happened. Plus...the knowledge that MJ can afford the best lawyers would have me thinking that the victim is going to go through all this just to see MJ acquitted.

Right or wrong, hitting him in the wallet may be the only recourse. At least we could afford counseling. Plus...i would hope that "settled out of court" would be a red flag for other parents to be very careful around him

Michael had so many plastic surgery procedures, shouldn't it be "rest in pieces"? I'm not a fan of him or his music.  It's too bad he died on the same day as Farrah. He kind of stole her thunder. All I know is every channel has some report about Jackson. Bottom line, he was a musician, not the President or Pope. People die, lets move on.

Oh, yes..aren't they so lucky??  They have lost their only parent, and someone they loved very suddenly at a very young age.

I am glad I was never that lucky, myself.

Her parental right were reinstated several years ago, when Mr. Jackson's health was not very good.

He had health issues off and on for quite a few years.

Whatever happened to the concept of innocent until proven guilty?

that doesn't exist in this country.

It exists, for those that are. Can you honestly believe he could be innocent when he pays 1 family to the sum of $20 million dollars to make charges go away? Just goes to show that those with money can and do get away with anything. Why hide it? It is what it is, or was.........

Not taking anything away from his music or the good he did do.....but perhaps he did that good, to make up for the bad that he also did as well!

I heard on the NBC news this morning that the ums are with their grandmother for the time being, and that custody will be determined sometime in the near future.  I hope the courts will keep them together, to lose their father, and possibly lose sibling(s) in such a short time span would be detrimental, imo.

While I do not care for MJ's genre of music, I can appreciate what he did for the music industry.  He had talent, and will be missed.  As far as the allegations... they are just that, allegations.  If my entire life from the time I were 5 until now, were open to the media's and society's judgement and scrutiny, I'm not so sure I would have been even more eccentric than he was.

Quite, and as a such he moved people, more people than any president or pope combined ever ruled.

This is the age of the popstars. Everybody knows MJ, Elvis and Abba, and will for centuries to come.

Kings, popes and presidents will only be remembered in dull history books and most people already have forgotten the past ones, and a lot do not even know the names of the current ones.
