Can anyone please tell me where I can find instructions on building a upright stock for standing only.  Can anyone also please tell me hot to determine its height?

thanks

I've also got a particular fetish for these and would like to build a set to use on my girlfriend/sub. However living as I do in shared accomadation and often having friends over, it would need to be collapsable so that it could be hidden. An idea that I had that would make it even more restrictive/comfortable for the sub and spanking friendly is to mount the upright that goes to the neck/hands on a base which the (un)willing victim stands on and at the other end is an upright that leads to a spanking bench which rests under the sub's belly as well as ring bolts in the base for attatching ankle cuffs to or perhaps an ankle pillory as well. The bench would not only support them and make them more comfortable (in my opinion essential for play lasting over seveal hours in a position that can potentially cause damage to the lower back) but also to prevent them lowering their backside whilst you spank it.

The main problem I'm having with the design (apart from budget) is that my girlfriend is surprisingly strong and has broken several pairs of cuffs as she has a tendency to thrash against restraints when cumming so it would need to be extremely strong which either means it needs to be constructed of metal (not my first choice, personally i prefer the look and feel of wood), use very thick heavy peices of wood (expensive and difficult to work with) or have support braces going in every direction which would be unatractive,  get in the way during play, a pain in the arse to build and would mean that it was extremely difficult to put together and take to peices if it were a collapsable version.

Another thing to consider is the material that you construct it from. Metal would be relativly cheap, lightweight and strong, however it is difficult to work without some very expensive tools and know how, also i don't find it particularly attractive. That leaves wood, now your first instinct is probably to go down to the local DIY store or builder's merchant. However, this is a really REALLY bad idea, the wood you will get there will most likley be pine, a very soft wood that breaks very easily unless it is very thick and heavy, also when it does break it makes some rather nasty splinters (sounds petty i know but when your nude the splinters can get to rather sensetive places if you catch my drift), not ideal if like me you want something that can be taken apart, moved or otherwise hidden from the eyes of your vanilla friends (especially the sexually repressed christian ones). The best material to build it from would probably be a hard wood such as oak, maple, ash, elm, mahogany or something like that.

These woods to have their pors and cons as well though. On the plus side they are middle of the road in terms of ease to work with their easier than metal IMO but a little harder than pine, just get the right tools. Their strong, after all they used to make battleships out of oak, and finally they look good especially when finished properly with a stain that shows the grain properly. On the other hand they do have a number of drawbacks, price being the most obvious. However, this one is easily gotten around by looking around charity shops (i belive their called thrift stores in the USA yes?) for old furniture made of these woods that can be butchered, if with a certain amount of guilt if it was a nice table you just took a disc saw too. The other major drawback of hardwood is it's weight, those of you who play guitar and have picked up a Les Paul will know what i mean here, their made of mahogany and maple and are notorious for giving people back problems because their so heavy. Once you've made your pillory stocks their going to be something of a swine to move unless you can break them down. But then again, the weight does have an advantage in that it is far less likley that a thrashing sub will be able to turn the pillory over and seriously injure themselves whilst unable to protect themselves in any way shape or form.

Another factor to consider in building these if you want them to be collapsable is how they fit together, one option is to have it slot together and then be held with pins rather like a mortise and tenon join, (sorry for all the carpentry refferences by the way but if you don't understand these terms you need to do some research before you attempt this project or you will wast a lot of time money and effort) the problem with this is it takes a fair bit of know how and a great deal of effort. Another way to do this would be to use butterfly bolts which are what I call a normal bolt with a wing nut on them, which would make it quick and easy to assemble the whole thing. The problem with this being that A: you would need a drill bit that's at least a foot long to drill some of the holes, and B: they can bend, leaving you with no way of taking your pillory to pieces other than cutting it to bits, NOT what you want to do after all that effort. Or worse, bend then snap, exposing your sub to fucking sharp bits of metal, I know we're into pain but stab wounds to the gut are a little over the top, plus explaining why your partner/sub has a butterfly bolt in them to the Ward Sister at the hospital could be a little embarasing, something tells me it's not a feature of many people's medical fetish fantasies. The best method therefore would probably be a combination of the two, I.E. mortise and tenon constructyion that slots together and is then held in place by butterfly bolts, it'll be easy to put it together and won't come apart during play or break easily, but it will take a great deal of time effort and possibly research depending on your carpentry skills as well as money to make using this method.

Another Idea that I had for the collapsable version of pillory stocks with a base, is that the base has hinges in the middle so that when they are not in use the base becomes a storage case that you could even put padlocks onto to keep the curiouse out, especially usefull for those with kids. I don't, but there are those who do and still like to play 'grownup games'. This would need to have some pretty heavy duty bracing in the base/case though in order to support the weight of a person, especially a sub who's got a hitachi tied onto her. On the subject of thrashing subs you may well want to pad the head/hand/ankle holes of your pillory in some way as well to prevent any permenant damage and in my case, the bench part as well. One way of doing it that would look particularly good is foam covered by red velvet (goes well with oak the wood i want to use) held on by brass studs, that's just my taste though you may want something totally different.

As for your questions on how to determine height the only way I know of that would be near fool proof (nothing is fool proof, a fool will always find a way and i frequently do lol) is to physicaly mesure it on the person that it is intended to hold, the other option if like me you intend to build a collapable one is to have different height settings so that it will always be comfey no matter who it holds but bear in mind this will make construction harder.

I'd love to make a set one day but sadly it's just not practical at the moment, but if anyone wants to try and come up with some ideas for a design (have one in my head but not on paper) then I would love to talk to you, hell if I do end up making one of these that works well I might even start making and selling them... now i just need to get the money/tools/plans/time to actually make one!

PS. sorry for the huge essay on pillory stocks lol, i admit that I've put far too much thought into this.... or not enough depending on your point of view

Appologis for the double post but i just found this on another forum member's site http://www.slavechris.com/Stocks/Stocks.html there are some really good ideas in that and you could use it as a pattern to make your own pillory

i have made a few sets. i found a decent height , well for me since i am 6 feet tall, is 48 inches from the bottom of the neck hole to the ground. When i made a thing i called flexistocks , and adjusted the bar to just over 3 feet from the ground, after an hour my back was killing me and had a tendency to have to rest my neck against the yoke to rest my back.
I have never run across a set of plans for a set of wooden stocks , but there was a site that had plans for things like a st andrews cross and stuff and they might have something.

But if it is of any help you can make the top yoke out of 2 2x6's 50 inches long , even though 2x8's look better. center hole is 6 3/4 inches, wrist holes just over 2 7/8 inches. and the center of the wrist holes are 20 inches from the center of the neck hole. and i used a locking shed hasp. off my main page there is a link called half stocks , it shows the top of a set i never finished.
