That, to me, seems the point here.  We are talking about two different things.  The earth and the world.  If you (everyone else) wants to make this a religious thing, that's their perogative.  I doubt the cosmos care, either.

This thread is an exercise in rationalism.  There are many elected officials who believe this crap.  This is not a matter of difference of opinion.  This is a matter of accepting well established and proven facts or choosing to believe in biblical proofs that have been demonstrated to be false.

Actions typically follow belief.  We are motivated to make decisions based upon what we perceive to be true.  It always churns my stomach when people spout this crap.But when elected officials believe this it is scary.  It demonstrates a complete denial of reality based upon a misguided faith.  I am not knocking religion here - more taking a jab at it.  Many theists accept the fact, the truth, that the earth is not 6,000 years old because they are rational enough to do so.  At risk of sounding corny I salute them.

There is also the "Tricky God" explanation, claiming that God placed the bogus fossils on Earth to test the faith of Man.

Nah. God wouldn't do anything like that, would He? I mean, demanding that a man kill his son, ordering the slaughter of whole communities, casting people into eternal torment, etc, - that's one thing. But pulling a prank on us?

So that presents a simple question, who would want to spend eternity with such an asshole? Personally even if that deity exists I'll take the other option.

I'm not worried. I don't believe in Hell because I refuse to believe that the Creator is a sadistic prick. If anything, history would suggest that he is a hands off kind of guy.

Don't forget the bifurcated tongue. LOL

I live in Kentucky, only about an hour west by southwest of the the creation museum. Out of curiosity friends and I went up to see what they have going on up there. I can tell you the place was completely frightening.

We may not take the "believers" seriously but polls consistently show the number of believers to be in the 2/3 to 3/4 range, at least here in the states.

Remember, these folks walk among us, they vote, they even run for office, and win.
