I am getting a lot of this today, and it is beginning to annoy me.

When I do a search via google, or follow a link from a website, the machine takes ages to search then finishes up with a Page Load Error message saying ;

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

Trying again just throws up the same page load error again.

Now, this has been happening for the last few days, I thought it might be a bug on my comp, so did security sweeps, nothing was found, so what is it, why am I having these problems now ?

Is it the net in general, firefox, my puter, or my provider ?

Any ideas, as these pages that get chucked up don't mean a lot to me other than it's not working.

Anything anyone can offer ?

in my experience, it usually means either the search you are doing is busy, or your provider is having problems.

Ok... first dump your temp files.  I find using a program like CCleaner works best as it gets things out of all the nooks and crannies.
Next, open up your internet options in the control panel.
First tab is general, make sure you take note of the address.
Next tab is security.  Make sure that both the trusted and restricted sites are set to default.
Next tab is privacy.   Make sure your popup blocker is on, (odd huh?)  but do it.
I would tell you to go to manage add ons in programs but there is a much faster way..
Go to advanced.
Reset internet explorer settings.
Even though you use firefox IE will still influence your firefox activity.  Also be aware there is a virus that is using firefox to launch into your system.

I don't know what anti-spyware you use but I put Malwarebytes on everyone.  (you can find that at majorgeeks.com on the anti-spyware tab on the left)
Make sure to update it weekly and always run a complete scan never the fast ones.
EEEKs one more thing.  Check what is listed in the show results if anything is found.  The next page will show you what they see is infected and there is a button on the bottom to remove those.
But, look at the list.  If you see something like this listed, UNCHECK IT!!
C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe   or C:\windows\system32\wsuser.exe.
Good luck,
Kyst

Thanks, I forgot about CCleaner, I usually run that at the close of session, not in session. Malwarebytes is one of my security scans, as is A squared, superantispyware and spybot along with AVG. Malwarebytes got ran yesterday, but nothing came up.

The problem I reported seems to have cleared now without doing anything, so perhaps it was my provider.

Also, this website purports to see if there's a problem with the server you're attempting to contact:

http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/

Don't know how useful it is, but I'm a link junky of major proportions, & it seemed like (a) it might be relevant to this thread, (b) y'all might have some feedback about it, & I luvs me the feedback . ... .

I'm DSL and pretty far out from where it originates. What that means is that every time we have a storm, nothing loads right and every kid in this house complains because they can't play XBox Live, can't get onto Facebook, can't drool over the new paintball guns etc. And I mutter because I can't get on here.
