I don't know if it is obsessive partisanship, but an awful lot of those in US politics seem to be blind to the obvious backlash of many of their actions....I think you guys elect to many morons for your own good.

I don't think she is a moron, and I don't think she is overly partisan, at least not any greater than her counterpart Boehnner, and probably less.

Why would she call for the release of the briefing's details if she was trying to mislead?

Nancy Pelosi's war - Politico.com

Pelosi called on CIA Director Leon Panetta to release full details on the 2002 briefing.

A spokesman for Panetta said the director has agreed to make the notes of Pelosi’s briefing “available at CIA for staff review” — saying aides with security clearances could review them at the agency’s Langley, Va., headquarters immediately.

A Pelosi aide said that wasn’t good enough, because the contents of the notes are classified and can’t be shared with the public.

“We think the best way for this to come out is to release the materials,” said the aide.

.........former Senate Intelligence Committee Chairmen John Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) and Bob Graham (D-Fla.) — have backed Pelosi, saying the CIA chart was full of inaccuracies and mischaracterizations.

You mean... Nancy Pelosi, saying that the CIA misled her on the use of torture of accused terrorist prisoners... was actually TRUE? That's what you're desperately trying to spin here? That she was RIGHT?

Again, just my gut reaction here, but why not call for the release of the briefing, knowing full well it won't be released because it contains other classified material that has not yet been made public. Seems a safe way to posture to me. Sorry, I just don't buy her story, and probably won't until those briefings are made public and show her to be correct.

We can say the same thing on the other side of the coin as Boehnner has asked for the same thing.

Which leaves us with Panetta who is shielding that information yet claims Pelosi was fully briefed.

Even though his credibility is being eroded in two subsequent inquiries.

Besides its irrelevant, Cheney's actions have nothing to do with Pelosi's, other than perhaps as inspiration, maybe his apparently succesful use of this tactic is where she got the idea.

My gut tells me that in this case Panetta is basically telling the truth, and Pelosi is desperatly engaged in damage control, and blaming the CIA who cannot, for reasons of national security, actually disprove your claim isn't a bad tactic. And at the moment our gut is all any of us have to go on.

It has to do with wrong things being done at the CIA and the military and probably other places as well. I think a lot of investigations need to be done just like Watergate.

You know Arpig, I think you need a vacation from the kids for a while. I think this is the third or fourth time I've seen you use a similar analogy.

This has nothing to do with "who started it".

The point is both Pelosi and Boehnner are calling for the CIA to release the specific information and it is Panetta who is stonewalling.

I can’t believe that on the 26th I said there needs to be a lot of investigations and on the next day John Conyers is in the news with a big headline that he is calling for criminal investigations into the Bush administration. I guess great minds think alike, if I can give myself a pat on the back.

John Conyers should clean his own yard first. Wasn't his wife just indicted for taking kickbacks, and maybe embezzelment ? He should spend his time on the problems in Michigan.

Monica Conyers plead guilty to federal bribery charges. She was caught accepting 2 envelopes stuffed with cash. She gave a contract to a sludge hauling firm. Seems appropriate to me..
