It was apporved in committee on Thursday or Friday. Nancy Polosi can have a vote in the House anytime now. They go on a month long recess on Friday August 7th.  Lets vote, they have all week..My guess is they won't..

Perhaps you're correct. Maybe Obama's Black Panther scandal deserves its own thread... but still - because of the title of this thread, it seems very fitting here.

Please explain the jump you just made Sanity.....where and when did this become "Obama's Black Panther scandal"?
Following your distorted logic is getting more difficult by the day....

It passed on Friday. not that any republican wanted that little bit of info out on the boards.

Now, you really dont understand how it works if you think this can be voted on within a week. It just left committees. The bill now goes to the full House and Senate. Both are now working on their own version of the bill.

quote:

The timeline the president had hoped for was deemed unrealistic today, as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said a Senate version of health care reform won't be finished before the break. Reid instead laid out new plans, saying the Senate Finance Committee would vote on its pieces of the measure before the Aug. 7 break, and he would then work on marrying that bill with the proposal to come out of a separate Senate health panel.

Reid said the Senate would consider the soon-to-be-merged bill shortly after the Senate returns Sept. 7.

Today Reid said he's honoring the requests of Republicans asking for more time.

"The decision was made to give them more time for the Finance Committee part of what we're trying to do, and I don't think it's unreasonable," he said.

"It's better to have a product based on quality and thoughtfulness than trying to jam something through," Reid added.

Today Obama said he's willing to wait until fall, or even the end of the year to get a comprehensive health care bill passed.

Even the Republicans dont want to vote on this before break.

servantforuse -> RE: Is This What America Voted For In Voting Obama As President? (8/2/2009 5:14:12 PM)

Why would the republicans even want to vote. They have nothing to do with it. It won't be voted on because the dems don't want it either..The votes are not there..

tazzygirl -> RE: Is This What America Voted For In Voting Obama As President? (8/2/2009 5:28:28 PM)

The republicans are asking for more time. could it be they are finally seeing the handwriting on the wall?

servantforuse -> RE: Is This What America Voted For In Voting Obama As President? (8/2/2009 5:31:27 PM)

They can ask for all the time they want. The democrats don't have to give it to them.. The dems are the ones stalling..They run the show..

tazzygirl -> RE: Is This What America Voted For In Voting Obama As President? (8/2/2009 5:35:00 PM)

LOL... what use would it be to place this before the House when the Senate wont be ready. gesh... are you deliberately trying to bait me?

Obama would prefer Bi-Partisanship on this. and yet here you are, demanding he ignores the Republicans request for more time. Make up your mind. either way you will attempt to persecute him.

servantforuse -> RE: Is This What America Voted For In Voting Obama As President? (8/2/2009 5:41:33 PM)

He would like a bi-partisan bill. That way he can blame the republicans when it goes down in flames.

tazzygirl -> RE: Is This What America Voted For In Voting Obama As President? (8/2/2009 5:46:22 PM)

Tsk tsk... looking into the chrystal ball again? maybe you should have looked into when GWB went into Iraq

Right. Just like the reason the "librul media" is fueling rumors that Obama is not legally qualified to be president is to make him look good. You really need to find some different radio stations to listen to; the ones you're getting this shit from are making you look pretty bad.

Sanity -> RE: Is This What America Voted For In Voting Obama As President? (8/2/2009 6:08:37 PM)

As worried as you seem to be about the dangers of freedom of speech, perhaps you would be happier in Venezuela:

When the information given is alot of misinformation, then someone can all them on it. no one is arguing freedom of speach. audio yellow journalism?

Sanity -> RE: Is This What America Voted For In Voting Obama As President? (8/2/2009 6:23:17 PM)

This is Panda's second post today in which he worried openly that people may be listening to radio stations he disapproves of, and I doubt he has any reason to believe they were listening to the radio at all. All I'm saying is that, if he really thinks radio is so dangerous he might be a lot happier in a place like Venezuela where opposition voices are being shut down - especially on TV and radio.

Obama is doing good
Officials see US economic growth in 2nd half
NEW YORK (AFP) – Top administration officials said Sunday US economic growth is highly likely to resume in the second half of the year, following a narrower-than-expected contraction in the second quarter.
"The great, great likelihood is that we'll see growth going forward in the second half of the year," White House economic adviser Larry Summers said in an interview with NBC television

How they spin it depends on who is in office:

U.S. Recession Worst Since Great Depression, Revised Data Show

Aug. 1 (Bloomberg) -- The first 12 months of the U.S. recession saw the economy shrink more than twice as much as previously estimated, reflecting even bigger declines in consumer spending and housing, revised figures showed.

The world’s largest economy contracted 1.9 percent from the fourth quarter of 2007 to the last three months of 2008, compared with the 0.8 percent drop previously on the books, the Commerce Department said yesterday in Washington. Gross domestic product has shrunk 3.9 percent in the past year, the report said, indicating the worst slump since the Great Depression.

Whether I approve or disapprove of a radio station isn't the issue, and i don't worry one way or the other about what people I've never met listen to on the radio.  It has nothing to do with freedom of speech - a radio station has the right to broadcast whatever crazy bullshit they want to broadcast. Nor did I say anything about radio wackoes being dangerous. The point I'm making in those posts is, if someone chooses to listen to radio stations that spread lies and lunatic conspiracy theories, they shouldn't be surprised if other people think they sound uninformed or mentally unsound when they repeat the lies and the crazy fantasies as fact. Or if people laugh at them instead of taking them seriously.
