yes I know this is unhealthy.  But figure I would ask anyway, I've actually never heard of this as a kink before until the other night.    Where the Domme starves the slave so she can tease him.   I can see the immense submissive feeling and total control this type of play would have and that's I suppose what intrigues me about it.     I'm just curious if anyone else has ever heard of it or what kind of precautions should be taken.

Your kink is not my kink..... I have too many health conditions that are dependent on my eating healthy AND regularly.  For those who can do it: great. For the rest of us, great!

Shadowowl in theory this sounds like quite an eciting power exchange but I suspect the reality would not measure up to the fantasy. Sounds quite sexy as a sort of erotic daydream but too dangerous and probably deeply unsatisfying to actually live out. Where did you hear about this?

Anytime I've starved, I just became extremely tired, irritable, had horrible headaches and just felt completely ill. I had no energy whatsoever.

I don't see how one can tease when they feel like that let alone have any kind of erotic connections with it.

Actually, there is a side-long sexual element to deprivation from food when dealing with eating disorders.
It doesn't surprise me that someone's decided to adopt it as a kink.
RACK or whatever your litmus test for acceptability.

I dont have such a kink, but I do fast (not a day long religious fasting, but for longer periods) , so I can give you some practical information. First of all what do you mean by starvation? Because the daily use of that word and reality are different. Staying hungry for a day or two and becoming very hungry is not starvation. For an healthy average adult, starvation will start after a month. This greatly depends on your weight and if you are underweight it can start earlier, or if you are overweight can be later.

Now there is no need to fill this page with technical details. What I believe, when you talk on this kink is, you are talking about being hungry for a short period of time (couple days). It is ok, as long as you do not have a medical condition (high blood pressure, known heart problems, and diabetics are in the risk group) , and/or you are not on medications (any type since they are hard on liver).

On the other hand if you are really talking about starvation, I would sugget you not to do it as a kink. There are two main reasons for that. If you are trying to do it as a kink, then you probably do not know what you are doing and you will hurt yourself. Second reason is, after couple days your digestive system will shut itself down and you will stop feeling hungry anyway, but other symptoms will start such as dizziness, headaches, etc..

I can post some tips for safety if you decide trying it for couple days. However I wont help you if you really want to go for around a month.

Hermes

Edit: Fasting is also not starvation. Somebody who fasts knowing what he is doing also learns to listen his body, and never drives himself into starvation. Starvation is the stage where the body is out of all energy stocks (fat) and starts using essential parts (muscles and organs) as an energy source.

perhaps it may just be a day or 2 without foot not full on starvation I had never heard of it before and agree it sounds pretty dangerous though I think perhaps for a short time like 1 day or even 2.   I heard it from my Mistress,  I had thought I have heard of just about everything but she managed to surprise me lol.    She does care for my safty and health though and we don't do RACK  just SSC.     The concept of it in terms of D/s is very enticing though I don't like to risk my health  in any way nor does my Mistress.   But from what you describ full on starvation taking a month then it's  starvation that would actually be the kink more of dailly common use of it not the reality of it.

I will give you some safety tips then: If you are going to try it for a day starting from the morning and ending next morning, you don't need much caution. You will get hungry, but your body will keep using the energy stock you have in your blood and then from your liver. If you want to go for two days (not till next morning, but the other morning) then other considerations come into play. After the first day your body will be out of immediate energy stocks and will depend on your fat stock. There is a speed body turns this fat into energy , and if you spend more energy than it converts you will start feeling tired, and then dizzy. Most of the symptoms that can arise (dizziness, headache etc..) are the way of the brain telling you it needs glucose. If needed you can swallow a teaspoon of sugar and it will provide your brain enough glucose without giving you a feeling of fullness. Keep drinking water as being thirsty for 2 days is not good for your kidneys. Do not drink cold water , as it will cause blood to rush your stomach in order to warm it, and the energy supply to brain will decrease (not a problem in a normal day, but it is when you are hungry).

Another important point is how to break this and go back eating. You dont need any precautions if it is only for a day. But the digestive system slows down and then eventually shuts itself down after 3 days. Therefore you shouldnt go back to your normal way of eating if you will stay hungry more than a day. Longer you stay hungry, more careful you should be about it. For 2 (3 is similar too) days, you can break it eating fruits and vegetable (raw, boiled, steamed etc.. ) No big meals, no fries, no chocolate etc. Your digestive system will be sensitive and foods difficult to digest can upset your body. You can follow this light diet for a day and then go back your normal diet next day.

You know what I suggest about health conditions. Do no force yourself into it, if you are not sure you are healthy. I hope these helps.

Good luck and best wishes
Hermes

Thanks for the tips Hermes,
I have no idea if we will even try this but as it's something of interest to my Mistress it's only fair I look into it and give it fair consideration so long as it's healthy and not dangerous I'll usually try anything.   so 1-2 days seems reasonable beyond that I think I would have to set a limit.

Actually, I'm not so convinced that in limited doses, this is all that unhealthy. Sure, prolonged starving places an excessive load on the body's organs and can lead to all manner of bad things. But in more sensible doses, I don't see why not. For me, at least, I do reasonably well without food. If I was submissive, I can easily see how this would be a strong element of control.

But it is certain that if I wanted to experiment with this with Carol, I'd be doing my medical research carefully.

My experience in this area is a little extreme. i can (on some level) see where this could be seen as a 'kink' issue. Especially when considering the high or rush one gets when You skip the first meal..then the second...then the third...then the fourth...then..when you've gone more than two days..more than three...more than one week...going on two... It becomes very intoxicating....  So, i can see the appeal in it....
the downside?......*reminding myself*........Oh yeah...
It completely screws up your metabolism...(among other things). It makes your mental process a little impaired. It makes the process for returning to eating that much more difficult. And you lose that sense of hunger.
Yeah...We don't engage in this kink at all...In fact Sir gets all pissy when i come home and He asks me what i've eaten today and i tell Him nothing...You would think after a while He would stop asking....{just kidding....kind of....sort of...} The reality is by the time i even realize i'm hungry....It's been a few *days* since i've eaten..
One of the few regrets in my life is that i engaged in this behavior,
Kali

Make sure you continue to drink water if you plan to "starve" for a day or two.  A body will dangerously dehydrate long before it starves.

I have a number of medical issues and still fast for metaphysical reasons a couple of times a year, including limited forms of fasting that restrict foods to certain things (which allows for similar physiological responses over time, but lengthens the safe duration of practice). One that I use a lot is a fast modeled on the practice of no food from sunrise to sunset, combined with a very limited diet of fresh fruits (no frozen or canned fruit or juice), raw-milk yogurt, raw honey, raw almond meal, and a blue-green algae based supplement called Excela-50, prepared as a smoothie 15 minutes before dawn (when I take my morning meds) and 15 minutes after sunset (when I take my evening meds). I drink water throughout the day, though, as my health and meds wouldn't allow me to not drink all day long.

I've found that in my 3rd-4th day, my senses become much more keen -- noises are louder, colors more vivid, and tastes are more diverse. Along about the 10th day, I start wearing down (I have a -lot- of resources... someone with fewer resources would probably start to burn out in the first week), and by day 21, I have to make sure that I've planned vacation time, because I become quite introspective and very quiet. For those first 3-9 days, though I am actually much more alert and aware.

Again, returning to a 'normal' diet requires a great deal of caution, and simple broths, and being very slow about adding high fat or dense protein foods is really important to prevent severe digestive upset.

Speaking as a former anorexic (I've got curves now), you'll find your libido will plummet to nothing. You may get off, but subby won't since males anorexics are impotent.

I have enough medical issues as is. I need to eat healthy. If I starved myself I would get tired and sick. Starving someone is very dangerouse. This is deffinatly not something I am into.

Another thing to watch out for is whether or not the sub has had past experiances with eating disorders that could trigger a relapse into a majorly unhealty way of looking at food.  Make sure the sub doesn't think it's being done with the Dom's mindset being that they are fat.

Also, this kind of kink is something for my own health reasons i'd never be able to participate in.  i've had blood sugar issues my entire life, and though have not been diagnosed with anything diabetes and hypoglycemia runs in both sides of my family (yes, we are a screwed section of the gene pool, k?)  So far it's been nothing i haven't been able to just monitor myself, but i HAVE to be able to eat when i need to.  Within two hours of feeling the need to eat my blood sugar drops pretty violently and i start trembling, get cold chills and sweats, and pass out...in that order, usually within four hours of when i should have eaten.

That and Steel thinks i need to gain weight anyway, and has threatened to force feed me McDonald's.....O.O

Just something else you may want to keep in mind.  Not everyone is willing to share on heath issues like this until they become a problem.

lil bit
