Cat is fighting a hair scrunchie, and so far Moki is winning. She's all bristled up and everything!

OMG! I love it when they do that!!

Kaliko -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/21/2011 6:49:52 PM)

My cats are fighting, fighting, fighting. STILL. I got my new, younger cat a few months ago. The older cat and she still hate each other. I know it's because the younger cat won't just back down and play timid, like my former cat did. If she would just stop fighting back, everything would be fine.

I am getting very tired of this. I still keep the newer cat in my daughter's bedroom, litter box and all, at night, but I'll usually leave them out together during the day, so they are getting exposure to one another. They just hate each other and God know what kind of fighting they do when I'm not here to break it up.

I am going to have a talk with your cats.

Kaliko, I had (and have) the same issue when I got Squeaks.  I didn't lock her away, even when I wasn't home.  Of course, she's an adult cat, not a kitten.  There have been some fights, and some scratched noses, usually hers, but she's started to get her own back.  She'll actually defend herself, and in some cases, be the first to approach Smooch.  I don't think they'll ever be bestest of friends, but we have an armed truce for the most part.  I always left the bedroom door open, and she'd take refuge under the bed.

And if the newest kitteh isn't backing down, then that's what has your older one all upset.....all I can say is just let them go, they'll draw their own lines in the sand like mine have.  Good luck......I know I worried when I was at work about the fighting too, but by all appearances, they mostly just slept as usual when I wasn't home.

Thank you...I suppose I'll have to do that. The younger cat isn't a kitten. She's just younger than the older one. She's three...or four. I forget (SPCA). The older cat is 15. Quite set in her ways. (And quite agile for a 15 year old cat, lemme tell you. She's even jumping up on tables and counters like she hasn't done in years just to get at the new cat.)

soul2share -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/21/2011 7:49:44 PM)

My boys are both 9 now.....and Squeaks is 3 or 4.  KB takes her in stride, he tries to get her to play, but since the other 2 brats attacked her, she is afraid that's what KB is up to.  He does play sorta rough....he grew up roughousing with a dog.

They don't chase her so much anymore....every once in a while, Smooch will get a wild hair, but she's usually the one up high to stay out of his way.  It wasn't until we moved out of the AZ place and into the FL place that she actually would stay out in the other rooms.  The change of scenery probably helped with the boy's territorial issues.  Even when I got my furniture and stuff out of storage.....they were still pretty good about her.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/21/2011 8:24:39 PM)

I have always let my animals duke it out themselves. I don't break up the fights, I let them figure it out. And eventually they get the pecking order straight between them. There's a chance that your breaking up their fights has actually prolonged them.

My Boyz are littermates & have lived together their whole lives & they still get into arguments sometimes. I just turn my back on them & let them work it out. I see it kind of like human siblings. They squabble & the more the parents get involved, the more they will squabble.

It's very hard to turn your back on the arguments because they sound like they're killing each other, but I have found it really is for the best.

Sounds like me and my sister as youngsters [:)] Dat bitch was scary!

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/21/2011 8:54:01 PM)

oh HELL yeah!!! Mine too.

Charnegui -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/22/2011 1:04:36 AM)

hahaha, speaking about sisters.... here's another one!
I never had troubles before with my cats, but I always had 2 opposite sexes [;)] never had an argument in my house.

Panthera and Gaia are getting along fine and they are playing together now and it is goin' to be more and more.

Last week I found out the cutest thing............ When I'm going out with Gaia, Panthera sits behind the window and watch us walking, as we come back she runs to her feedingplace and takes some bites
I think that she wants to go with us, when she's somewhat older [:D]

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/22/2011 1:22:45 AM)

I think this story is a hoot!! And this video from Animal Planet shows how he does it. His owners try to get everything back to the people who Dusty steals from.

sunshinemiss -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/22/2011 3:24:30 AM)

Can't you see it now?

So that's where my bra disappeared to...!!!

Where's the ten bucks you owe me?

I left it on the table, you know, last night. And uhh... Dusty must have taken it!

Phoenixpower -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/22/2011 4:20:36 AM)

Baghira (mums Cat) just came running in due to a massiv thunder which came down here (i hope nowhere lightning struck as it was awfully loud.) Personally i am glad she came in as i don't want her to feel being pushed away from my cats.

Sounds like Amos (the older girl) and Cashew (younger boy..although he WAS a kitten when I brought him in, and she was about 4)

Amos used to be the instigator to my late, lamented Gracious.. tables have turned.

although, today, I saw Amos starting in on Cashie...   about damned time!

--------------

when I got home this morning, I got out of the car, gathered my cooler and purse, turned around and glanced at the front window....  only to see Cashie with his face pushed between the blinds..like he was making sure it was ME that just pulled up to the house!!   omg, I wish I'd had a camera!!  it was SOOOOOOO cute!  and it will be until he messes up the blinds and I have to repl;ace them..LOL

*makes note to keep camera in car*

soul2share -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/22/2011 9:21:30 PM)

When I get home early from work, I usually end up waking a few, if not all of the kittehs up.  But when I'm what they consider late....one is sitting on the stove, and the others are sitting on the washer and dryer waiting for me.  I feel so loved when I am greeted by them all at the door......but, then I feed them, and they go back to doing kitteh bizness.  It was a warm fuzzy feeling while it lasted!!

NuevaVida -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/22/2011 9:31:31 PM)

I'm in an apartment and my carport faces my second bedroom's window.  Viktor is always sitting in the window when I pull in, and every time, his head kinda jerks forward as I pull in, as if to look extra hard and confirm that it's me.

When I open the car door, I see his mouth meowing and then he disappears from the window.  When I open the front door, he's sitting right there, meowing up a storm at me, then he rolls around on the carpet, stretching and purring, until I pick him up and snuggle him for a few minutes.  It's our daily ritual lol.

Right now he's just staring at me.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/22/2011 10:23:38 PM)

When I lived on Rose St in San Francisco, I walked to & from work. And every evening, as I was walking down the hill toward our house, Mr Cat would be sitting on his perch in the window watching for me. By the time I got upstairs, he'd be at the front door to greet me. I really really miss that old fart!!!

NuevaVida -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/22/2011 10:26:04 PM)

Awww, aren't they sweet?

After I posted, I tossed him one of his little mice toys.  As usual, he batted it around the living room for about 20 minutes, then took it to the kitchen, dropped it on the floor, batted it under the refrigerator, and then reached under the fridge for the next 5 minutes trying to retrieve it, before giving up and trotting back to me with a little mew.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/23/2011 3:17:11 PM)

I went out & bought new shoes today. I put one pair on & wore them home & put the other pair in a small shopping bag & left the boxes at the store. I sat down at my computer & put the bag with the red shoes in on the floor next to me. Suddenly I hear hissing & I looked down & Booga was looking into the bag & hissing at the shoes!! He finally started darting his paw into the bag trying to whack the shoes into submission while hissing!! What a goofball!!!
