Yeah, I'm lucky that Angel dislikes water. When Misty misbehaves, I can't use it because she'd let me spray her all day long and it wouldn't affect her in the least.

I now have a picture in my brain of a cat sitting with her eyes closed & a contented look on her face whilst you spray her like the good little slave that you are. *gigglsnort*

It's not quite that rosy of a picture, LOL. Usually it's when we have a vet appointment and she hides under the bed to avoid having to go. I get out the spray bottle to try coaxing her out, and she just sits there and lets me spray her as long as I care to because it's the lesser of the two evils. Doesn't like it, but doesn't budge, either. Now with the triple digits temps we've been having the last month, maybe she would enjoy it if I sprayed her with cool water.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: What is your cat doing? (7/30/2011 12:14:59 PM)

I haz a weird brain that conjures up pictures that make me laugh. heh Both of my cats are incorrigible, although I seem to have finally convinced them to stay off the table. I still can't convince them that they can't sleep on every chair in the house. When anyone comes to visit, I have to use the pet roller on their clothes before I'll let them leave. Today I am going to do what I can to get the cat hair problem under control here. Depression has kept me somewhat immobile & it's pretty much taken over everywhere here.

I know what you mean about the pet hair....it's a never-ending battle around here. Hope your depression lifts soon.

Another triple digit day and the kitty girls are snoozing the afternoon away. If I hadn't gone to a movie this afternoon, I'd have probably done the same.

GreedyTop -> RE: What is your cat doing? (7/31/2011 4:27:55 PM)

Cashie found a couple of cable ties that are locked onto each other. it makes a skittery sound as he knocks it around the floor. he's been alternating between chasing that, and playing fetch with one of the knotted up plastic bags.

Amos is hanging out on the back of the armchair, looking out the window.

soul2share -> RE: What is your cat doing? (7/31/2011 7:54:53 PM)

Boo likes to play with pistachio nuts....the sound of the "tink' on the tile is what he likes...now that we're in the carpeted apartment, he has no interest in playing with them!  He also loved to take them into the bathroom at about 3 am.....you wouldn't believe the noise that makes!

My kittehs will make a toy out of anything.....I've got a few cable ties floating around....probably under the fridge.....bread ties, ping pong balls, anything that can be shoved around on the floor is fair game.  Yep, and plastic bags.......there have been many an occasion that I've gone to pick them up after emptying them, and lifting one up full of kitteh..or even funnier, flipping said kitteh out of said bag!  Now THAT'S funny!  To me, that is.....I usually get the Ebil Kitteh glare when I laugh at them.

Daddysredhead -> RE: What is your cat doing? (7/31/2011 8:13:02 PM)

Bubby kitty just sneezed right in Thing 2's face when she picked him up and said, "Who do you love?"

Charnegui -> RE: What is your cat doing? (8/1/2011 1:06:06 AM)

And?? Thing 2 knew that was the affectiondisplay?

LOL

Panthera is glad, me being home, she is chasing me all the time, attacking my legs... I managed not to fall somehow..

playfulotter -> RE: What is your cat doing? (8/1/2011 5:41:27 PM)

My Gnocchi is sleeping in the sunshine right now but I have a question for other cat people here if you don't mind answering......She used to love rotisserie chicken from the grocery store when she was younger and would go bonkers when I brought one home but now she could care less...Oh she will eat a little but when she was younger she would crave it..Actually I didn't think it was good to feed it to her so much but my last Dom would feed her it all the time...now she would rather have just boring cat food...has this happened to you?

smartsub10 -> RE: What is your cat doing? (8/1/2011 5:45:07 PM)

My cat Cecil used to go nuts over canned tuna.  Now he just scratches around it like it's shit when I put it down.  My other cat, Charly will gobble it up.

playfulotter -> RE: What is your cat doing? (8/1/2011 5:49:55 PM)

Smartsub,

I know what you mean...I have never been able to get my cat to eat any seafood like tuna or shrimp or even lobster...go figure! I bought a few of those cat foods that look like canned tuna and she ate it because I didn't give her anything else but she would rather have eaten the 40 cent can from Vons called "Mixed Grill"..ha ha..Even my last cat didn't like seafood..what is this preconception that all cats love seafood...I wonder about that one!

Nope, hasn't happened here. Misty is 15 years old and has as voracious an appetite for chicken as ever. In fact, I had it tonight and she bothered me non-stop throughout dinner. She has always been like that.

Angel likes chicken, but seems satisfied after about 6 tidbits (pieces about the size of the nail of my little finger) and wanders off. Misty is less than half her size and ate about twice as much chicken. She would have eaten even more given the option, but I limit their consumption of human food.

tj444 -> RE: What is your cat doing? (8/1/2011 5:55:00 PM)

Mine used to love the big paper bags.. especially when i would roll up some writing paper into a ball and toss it in there.

They loved those paper balls.. swat swat drool drool.. several times my ex would stick his foot into his shoes to find a very soggy paper ball hidden inside.. [:D]

playfulotter -> RE: What is your cat doing? (8/1/2011 5:59:58 PM)

Mystic,

What is weird is if I have a chicken sandwich made with that thin deli chicken she will want some....I think she just wants what I have and it isn't even what I have...ha ha...One thing about this cat is she will never drink milk or cream or any dairy product where my last cat loved them.

NuevaVida -> RE: What is your cat doing? (8/1/2011 10:24:00 PM)

When I first brought him home he was emaciated and oh so hungry, so every time I ate he'd jump up to my plate and stick his face in it, sniffing everything and wanting to sample it (I wouldn't let him).  He did this with friends when they came over, too, and I'd gently shoo him off.

Now he is oh so picky.  He won't eat fresh (cooked) fish, tuna, or fresh cooked chicken (he used to nibble on chicken but has decided he doesn't like it anymore).  He'll only eat Fancy Feast seafood variety (canned) and Spots Stew chicken (dry).  This abrupt change occurred after he became really sick last year and I had to force feed him.

By the way, just a cautionary note - Lilies are toxic to cats. Even eating the pollen droppings (like if it gets on their paws) can poison them. He spent 4 days in ICU from that lovely lily experience last year and I almost lost him.

I remember when you first brought him home. I truly believed he was damn near the ugliest cat I'd ever seen. I know you probably got mad at me when I told you that, but I have to say that Mr. Viktor wouldn't be the drop-dead gorgeous beauty he is today if it wasn't for you. Viktor is very lucky to have you. You saw his potential and you made sure that he was given every opportunity to live up to it and damned if he didn't do just that. You are such a good mama for him. Give him a head skritch for me and send my regard to The Mister.

:*

NuevaVida -> RE: What is your cat doing? (8/1/2011 10:44:17 PM)

Aww sweetie!  I remember your exact words: "He has a face only a mother could love"  LOL!!!  I wasn't mad at all - just totally surprised because I thought he was simply beautiful.  Now I look at those pictures and think, Damn, he looked like a rat!

He is as good for me as I am for him.  I think we both played a part in saving each other.

Head scritches galore and regards to the Mister on your behalf.  Please sent regards to Himself, as well.  And big ol' hugs for you.  I wanna see you again.  Call me!

ETA: I think I have before & after pics on this thread somewhere...

Also adding: Knowing me and my dyslexia, I'll try to get the order right - Head scritch for Viktor and Regard to the Mister. NOT head scritch for the Mister and Regard to Viktor.  Ha.

We're going to be house hunting for Dad this weekend and I've already started to interview LPN's for full-time in home health care in the Antioch area. (Forgot to tell you.. we finally sold Dad's house! Yippee!) I'll drop you a note on the other side and see if we can set up a gab fest.. and let the rest of these folks get back to talking about their pussy's. [;)]
