"Mortgage Giant Gave VIP Status to Powerful Democrat Who Heads Committee Investigating Its More Questionable Lending Practices "

"Add Congressman Edolphus Towns to the growing list of influential Democratic and Republican VIP's who received loans from Countrywide Financial. That's significant because Towns, a Democrat, heads the committee investigating the mortgage giant's practices. And he personally is blocking the effort to subpoena Countrywide documents, reports CBS News correspondent Sharyl Attkisson. "

The party no longer matters, the corruption is spread throughout. There needs to be a complete house cleaning.

This comes as a surprise ? It has been going on for some time. It is just the status quo, brought to the limelight by someone who figured this was a good time for it.

Let them accuse and descredit one another as much as possible. The awakening of the might of the populace of this nation might be sooner achieved.

I have posted the solution, not easy to implement, but possibly the only one that'll work. The problem is that We The People need solidarity, and it is something we sorely lack. That is the first goal.

So I agree, but that house cleaning is alot easier said than done.

I know it is easier said than done, and why I told someone the other day that the country would be better off in the long run if things got a lot worse. Once more people start to suffer, then more people will get pissed, and more people will see that things are shit whether it is Dems or Reps in power. Then maybe people will wake up and start voting these incumbants out of office until someone starts doing their damn job.

Termyn8or -> RE: Politicians accepting special loans (8/8/2009 11:27:07 PM)

Oh, it is much better than that Orion. It's not that they will want to do it they will have to.

Quick refresher on my solution : The only way to take the teeth out of the powers that be is to reject their money. While a paralell monetary system will not work, barter will. But for that to happen people must be able to do something. Another aspect is that we must do without their new toys. That means no cable, no new plasma TV, no new speakers, drive the same car for a few more years and alot of other things like becoming highly efficient and some who have land, to have gardens and such. The whole nine yards.

Don't get me wrong, we can't wean ourselves totally from the monetary system, but we can wean ourself off the highlife. For example want a VCR ? Obsolete. Want a DVD, obsolete. You need a bluray. Know what, the bluray is already obsolete. They already have something so much better that they can't even use the capacity. They are holographic DVDs and are most likely only used in government to save information on people. Their capacity is amazing.

But wait, the regular old decrepit DVD already had four languages, subtitles in four languages, choice of camera angles and all kind of stuff nobody ever used. It was to keep up with the Jones'es. In this country, whether immigrant or not, we develped this technology. We seem to like it. We had alot to do with Man's love affair with fast and/or fancy cars. This affinity is what fueled the scam that has gone on so long. Most people can't see the forest for the trees. They do get in the way huh ?

What we have done with our flagrant display of dependence on this garbage is exactly what started this whole mess. And believe it or not, even if we still made everything in the US it would still be a mess. A waste is a waste, no matter what.

We The People are the only ones who can break the cycle. Only when we say NO, can we do that. I didn't even own a DVD player at all until my Dad died. That was in May, how long have DVDs been out ? I have broken the cycle, at least in my own life. The only things that might be better bought new are computers. After my venture into that market I am not so sure.

It is as if they want to leave no stone unturned where we might find a way to make some money. They seem to be quite meticulous. Everywhere you turn there wil be an impediment. Want raw milk from a farm ? Illegal. Want un-genetically altered seeds that will actually not only produce but reproduce ? Cost you at least four times as much. Butter costs more than margarine, but it didn't for a time, when everyone thought butter was bad for you.

Yes follow the money, but also follow the desire, and what created it. In a way it is like following the money, backwards. Without mass production there are no mass sales. Without mass sales, there will be no mass production, at least for long.

I see breaking the vicious cycle as the only real cure. All that bribe money, worthless almost. All that tax money, worthless almost. All that money period, worthless almost.

And remember two things, first of all with the path they're taking the money will be devalued considerably. And then of course people can't buy the Chinese crap they sell, then comes part two.

I just lay in wait for those days, and I think they are coming up soon. Perhaps within our lifetimes. If not, things are going to get pretty miserable anyway. They could never print enough money to stop it, only slow it.

I have to wonder what will happen when the system is truly threatened. Will it go totalitarian? Will every dissenter be labeled a terrorist?(

totalitarian

Christopher Dodd, democrat CT also got a lower rate on his loan. He said he didn't know what the rate was. Really. He is either an idiot or a lyer. I don't think that he's an idiot.

Termyn8or -> RE: Politicians accepting special loans (8/9/2009 9:34:40 AM)

servant, I had to get a chuckle out of that one. It's not really an oxymoron, but to explain what made me smile this morning was :

You say that a congressman or something like that gets a loan and doesn't know what the rate is. This is a person who handles OUR money.

But then I thought about it, maybe the guy is not lying, after seeing what has happened to the economy.

I don't know quite how to categorize this, oxymoron ? Irony ?

So if he is lying that's bad, and if he's telling the truth it's bad. This is way beyond irony or oxymoronicness*.

Actually I do like your new word. And it fits...

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Politicians accepting special loans (8/9/2009 6:19:02 PM)

If you converted the lower interest into cash, and it was handed to these politicians, would it be a bribe? If so, then why are these things not a bribe?

Termyn8or -> RE: Politicians accepting special loans (8/9/2009 11:38:06 PM)

Lobbying is a bunch of bribes. It is business as usual.

You think I'm pissed, try pissing me off until I get the bottle and the guns out. I guarantee I will make the national news.

People may wonder why I don't respond as much, if they care. The reason is that there are only so many paths I can see that we can take to fix this. Bitching about it does no good.
