I had my first BDSM experience about a week ago, and well the lass refused to be dominant.. don't get me wrong, she was pulling all the strings, but she let me be Dominant.. Can't really explain it other than that..

It was amazeing though!~

anyways, I think I cracked a rib, but it only hurts in one spot and only if I apply light pressure of stretch. (it hurts on the inner edge of my sturnum)

...and I had a bite-mark/bruise on my right shoulder that turned black and made my entire shoulder numb for 3 days. XD

I think I'll ignore the rib, its not that bad, though that was about a week ago..

What do you all think?

If you have to ask, get it checked by a dr.

I kinda can't afford it right now, unless its one of those things that must be checked out.

Do you know how the rib injury happened? Was it from impact, or from stretching/twisting? Because it sounds like a pulled or torn muscle, from what little information you gave thus far. The muscles in that area are often prone to pulls and tears where they anchor to the sternum. It would help to know a little more. I've had many broken ribs, and a few pulled and torn pectoral muscles. I might have some suggestions.

Honestly, I'm not sure.. It started hurting latter that evening when I showered and cleaned up..

But it prolly happened when I was bound by the wrists and she was on-top.. lots of pectoral movement then, and well her coming down could have stretched something..

If a doctor was an option, I'd get an x-ray to be sure.
I wouldn't assume a broken rib, though: geez, if we all got broken ribs from someone in a mounted position on us, well, lots of people would have broekn ribs from sex.  More likely a pull but just guessing.

Typically, every time I've broken or cracked a rib, I didn't have to wait an hour or two to find out something was wrong. In my experience, broken ribs make their presence known quite promptly. They really fucking hurt. The worst ones are when you break multiple ribs, but even the times I've cracked or broken just a single rib, I knew it almost immediately. It's not as excruciating as when you have your whole side caved in - single ribs typically don't leave you wracked with muscle spasms the way 5 or 6 will do - but it hurts. And not just when you apply pressure or stretch a bit, either - anything that flexes the thoracic wall stresses the fracture, and you tend to feel it almost every time you move. Especially when it's freshly broken.

I know it's dangerous giving medical advice over the internet, but I'll go out on a limb and say that from what you're describing, I wouldn't bother going to the doctor if it were me. Not if you have to pay out of pocket and money is tight. If it were broken, and certainlt if it were broken badly enough that you were at risk of puncturing a lung, you probably wouldn't be here asking us if it sounds like a broken rib. You'd more likely be asking us how many beers it's safe to drink with 4 percodans. I think you'd have already known something was seriously wrong, and already gone to the doctor. And even if it were a single broken rib, the only thing a doctor can usually do is say, "yep, you've got a broken rib. Be careful not to aggravate it while it's healing. Wanna pay now, or should we bill you?"

If you want a little peace of mind, try this. Press lightly on whatever rib you think may be broken, but don't press where it hurts. Press on that rib about 3 inches away from where it's sore. Press lightly at first, and keep increasing the pressure. If the rib is cracked, flexing it will put stress on the crack, and believe me, you will know immediately that you have a broken rib. Probably the instant you start to press. If you press slowly, you'll feel the pain long before you displace the bone. If that doesn't cause any pain at all, then your rib is fine, and the problem is with the soft tissue over the rib cage. Probably a pulled or torn muscle.

Now, the bad news. Given a choice, I'd rather have a broken rib than a pulled or torn chest muscle. Broken ribs heal completely, and 2 months later you don't even remember which rib it was. When muscles tear at the point of attachment to the sternum, or even pull at that attachment point, it can be a chronic problem for years. If it is a muscle, and it is at the point where it attaches to the sternum, take care of it. Don't do anything to aggravate it. Baby it, and let it heal completely. Don't re-stretch it.

I suppose there is one other thing it could be, too. It could possibly be torn cartilage in your rib cage. But again, if you tore the cartilage, you wouldn't be asking us if there was something wrong. You'd probably be asking us how it's possible for someone to be shot in the chest without seeing a bullet hole. That usually doesn't hurt as constantly as broken ribs, but over the last couple of days, you would definitely have had moments where you felt like the guy in "Alien" when the little monster-thingie came bursting out of his chest. Torn cartilage is something you easily might not have felt for a few hours, but you'd have felt it eventually, and when you did, you'd really have felt it.

So, I'm guessing it's some degree of muscle strain. Tylenol's usually pretty effective at taking the edge off of that kind of pain, and rest the muscle until long after it feels as though it's healed. Good luck, and maybe consider a core stretching program once you're back at 100%. Regular yoga practice can do wonders at keeping you nice and limber for all the shit we do.

Reading threads like this when people can not go to a doctor for fear of a bill makes me glad we have the NHS - lots of people knock it I know - but alot of people would be lost without it.

ps - sounded like a muscle problem to me as well :)

Congratulations on your first injury and I hope you have many more (just kidding)

The trouble is with this sort of injury is you don't have any lasting war wounds. All that pain and nothing to show for it..
